Afermarket Pistons

Anyone change pistons on their 2.0s yet? More specifically, change comp. ratio? I'm kinda up in the air which way to go with this. I'm not sure if I want to dual charge and drop comp. ratio with the Mahle pistons or go with the Intense/Diamond set up with the 10:1. If anyone increased theirs, did you experience any increase in knock? Doesn't anyone offer 9.5:1 stock ratio but in a forged build? Thanks in advance.

We tried to talk to mahle and get them to get the stock CR at least, they make them in 8.5 or 9 to 1 CR. I dont see the point unless you plan on twin charging.

Yeah, I guess my question is really, "Do I wanna dual charge or run high compression and a bottle." Its just clutch and pistons are my next upgrades and haven't decided which way to go yet.

The stock pistons are actually a Mahle piston. As for the compression change I still can't tell you because the last piece we are waiting on are some custom cylinder sleeves from Bates. These should be in soon but everything is put on hold as Mev from JBP gets married this coming Saturday and then heads on a 2 week honeymoon. Then who knows how long it will take Mev to recoup from all the honeymoon sex his new wife will be getting.
Looks like the end of September before I can give you a different answer but I still may not be able to help you Witt, because of everything else we are doing to the engine. I would say just do it all and and be prepared for anything.

Cool, thanks for the reply. Right now I guess I'm looking at the Mahle forged pistons in anticipation of building a dual charged set up, which is kinda the way I'm leaning.

Refresh my memory, were those the 8.5 ones? Do you have a link?

We should be able to do that price or better of $399.99. We will get pricing and add them to the website to purchase.

Aaron from TTR can likely confirm this but my understanding is 8.5 is a lower than stock compression. Those pistons are definitely not the stock pistons but they are similar in design especially the piston head. Best of all these are forged. My understanding is these are for engines running higher boost without doing an extensive reworking of the engine.

Yes these are lower CR as stock is 9.5:1 These would be great with a twin charge setup. They are available in stock and .020" over bore.
