I would never increase the compression with pistons without first putting in sleeves. you'll crack that bitch in half, 7250rpm is about 50-75rpm to high, especially on an 05 with 106k miles. And yes the GMS3 kits are rich because it's safer to be rich than lean, different elevations and climates differ it. get a custom tune next time it's obviously better. I have f*cked with my ss soooo much and not 1 problem from it in 2 years. you can check your tensioner to see if it broke so it doesn't have to be a "might have been your tensioner" situation.

At the risk of sounding like an old guy.... If you are upside down on a car that you would prefer to get out of, why the hell would you invest serious money into building it? Get the thing fixed and pay down the loan like mad until you are out of debt on it or at least in a positive position so you have some options to sell the car.

by what you are saying then you should never drop a pully size because you are increasing cylinder pressure with each drop in size, cylinder pressure isent the main reason of what kills the sleeves in these engines its detonation. forged pistons dont kill the sleeves either if the proper clearances are set up along with proper ring end gap

I got another car and honestly don't wanna get rid of my balt. Studs/Bolts (w.e) my bad my wording was off. Still upgrading the motor. This is my Fun car so im gonna do fun **** to it. Whether it's a meth kit or Nitrous shot.

Car won't be done till next spring so the money/part collecting begins. Now just finding the best deals, and right parts is my next objective.

Refuse to go turbo, Not worth the EXTRA headache. Sorry TARBO lovers = ). My LSJ is staying in the Blower state. My motor will be powerful enough to handle w.e i throw at it. Whoever wants to give me good info ill be up for what u got. What parts u recommend and why? Which company would u go with?

Got a guy who will P&P my head so im good on that.

What are stock sleeves rated at? Darton sleeves seem like a overkill tbh.

its not so much the sleeves as it is the block the lsj and lnf(lnf is gen 2 eco) both use the same sleeve the lsj is rated 350 but plenty of people have made well over 400 the gen 2 blocks are rated to 700. the biggest thing i can stress on building an engine is checking the clearances to make sure they are were they need to be. dartons are great but it comes with a hefty price tag

zzp reported that they start seeing problems with the stock rods around 500hp
as for a ported head go with someone who works with the lsj head it dosent take much to take a subpar head and make it worse

as for pistons zzp has a nice set diamond makes a good set and so on it just depends on how deep your wallet is

head studs are reusable and nice but not needed main studs are the same (and way expensive)

you will have to source gm for alot of the parts bearings bolts and such i would recomend crate engine depot

Wallet is going to become Deep due to i wanna build it right. Giving it a good year for collecting parts and all. im gonna inspect all the parts and such.

You think 106k sleeves will last 300+ hp for a extended period of time + high reving since i want to be able to rev the motor to 8k?

when i do my short block its either going to be darton or zzp's girdled block, not because a stock setup wont be able to take the power i make now but rather because i dont ever want to think about it again. "can my block take it" are not words i ever intend to use after i spend the cash on a fresh short block.

stage 2 cams are probably overkill for a supercharged set up. i trust zzps recommendation of stage 1. your gonna need bigger injectors as well, 42s arent up to it.

First I'd like to say my posts so far in this thread have been my buddy Sean and not me. But with that being said it would be foolish to build a motor and not do the sleeves or upgrade to a gen2 block. I don't know mr belvedere or his car and will not jump to conclusions but there are a good amount of pretty serious cobalts in Chicago all of which I would not trust on a stock lsj sleeves.

Yes 3 of them out of the few are not completed one of which had issues with the work a machine shop did which is now just waiting for new rings then it'll be completed. And mine is still waiting for couple parts which o was supose to have back in April. As for power I'm not really sure where you're getting your info but you are greatly misinformed. Also note my car was running fine when began my build where you blew yours up cuz you didn't listen when people tried to help you and provided information to get you where you wanted to be in power. So go ahead do as you please with your red neon and NAWZ. We're done trying to help you

Listen i've been trying to get help from you guys and all i hear is go turbo or don't talk to me kiddie bullshit. I wouldn't mind Sean tuning my car but honestly for the mods i had i didn't need a ridiculous tune. I wanted to keep my car within the GM limits and i liked the GM stage tune. The fact that my car has a buttload of miles and all stock stuff is probably a good reason it blew up, highly doubt it was due to the tune, also consider 7k revs on a 106k miles motor. Now i know ur friend has 108k on a turbo lsj but turbos don't produce as much heat as a supercharger.

I guess ill just find myself another Chicago tuner since theirs abundant of "FAST"cobalt guru

The mechanic that's helping me rebuild/rejuvenate my car is almost positive my valve or valves stuck and piston hit it so. but we still don't know taking it apart. When i did blow up my car i stomped a 60k 2010 BMW m3 on the highway so obviously the car was strong, but i pushed it limits. I have lots of ideas of what to do. Whoever wants to give me their incite please do. If your gonna criticize my idea's or future plans that F the hell off. I don't need your bullshit.

Honestly if i have to take a personal loan to get the car running tomorrow I WILL but im gonna take my time and find the best deals/best advice. So help me if you can guys. My mechanic's old school he doesn't know much about HPtuners. He drives a Corvette Stingray 74, and AMC AMX.

Any indiana or chicago local tuners who know there **** and wanna help contact me

If you took it to 7k then you most likely were at 7100 or even 7200

106k miles and you make less than 300hp? you arent putting that much stress on it and the mileage isnt **** lol. aftermarket sleeves arent required, neither is a built motor. You say you wanna do it right but if you do not have a TVS or larger SC or a turbo, then building an extreme motor isnt doing it right, its pissing money in the wind. A built motor doesnt mean you wont blow it either, I watch built motors blow all the time and Ive seen stock motors handle everything people could throw at it.

Im making over 350whp with a gigantic turbo and I have seen revs all the way out to 7900. COMPLETELY stock motor from top to bottom with... 165+k miles. And I have abused that car since the day I bought it. I bought it brand new from the dealership in July of 06 with 35 original miles.

The turbo did not go on until mid 150k area, it was a 3.0 w/42s and nitrous prior.

Dude I told you multiple times how to go about making the power you want on the m62 and stock motor. We just told you if you wanted bigger power to go turbo instead of strapping on nitrous but you don't listen and had your mine set which is fine live and learn I guess. But to say you tried for help and all we said was go turbo is just ignorance. Ask your girlfriend or everybody that's been at the meets, your girlfriend was even laughing because we kept having to repeat how to achieve your goal. I also like how when you showed up with your car weds making noise and running like crap we asked if you were racing your heating on it you said you were just cruising on the highway and now you were stomping a 2010 m3. Good luck with your car though you apparently only want advice that supports what you already have your mind set too.

no because pistons would obviously be in addition to any pulley drops, you can run on the hub on an m62 and it would still fall on it's face at 20psi. tvs is a different story, look at most turbo builds, some people's sleeves/pistons took a ****. your theory of detonation is false because that would imply that with the proper afr, and the best spark plugs you can run infinite boost. no one can predict when **** goes wrong man.
