Aftermarket Shiftlight

Can anyone direct me to a reasonably priced aftermarket stand alone shift light unit? I want something nice, and that is not to expensive, and that you can integrate into the factory tach.... with the module things or whatever...... there are a ton on ebay, however i dont know what is good and what isnt....

Well, yes. It uses a coil pack to determin the RPM's and you adjust it to where you want it to light up and tell you to shift so you do not have to keep an eye on the tachometer...

I have a raptor in the cobra and love it. My trap speed went up 1.5 mph from me hitting my shift points correctly, plus I don't have to watch my gauges so much. I've been thinking about getting one for the cobalt. Also, relatively easy to install.

Oh, and the stock tach is a little slow to respond, so a shift light will accurately tell you when to shift. I seem to hit the limiter in first in this car all the time, even before the tach hits redline. The tach just can't keep up with how quickly the RPMs climb.

what i was insinuating is that the tach is so slow you usually hit the fuel shutoff before it hits the redline in first and second gear

with the gauge installed it did help me miss the fuel cut off from 1st to 2nd. I also bought it from raptor. gauge is awesome mounted it on the steering column so its visible. light is bright enuf so that you pay attention. installation took about 3 minutes. i already had a whole drilled thru the firewall tho.

well guys after looking, i would rather spend 75 on the autometer one then 85 on a raptor.... so im thinking of the autometer one that you get the little rpm things for..... plus it matches the boostgauge and autometer is good stuff

Our tach does seem slow, however i think it is accurate... the same is the case with the speedo, me and my buddy had the same thought so we hooked up the obd2 to it and took it out on a little ride to see what it said, and sure enough the numbers matched... pays off to own a shop and be able to use that little thing, i also found out i have no knock, what my air to fuel ratio was, and some other **** too.... next time we hook it up, i am going to find out how much torque the crank is seeing, couldnt do it last time as we couldnt find the other part you need to plug in....

hey man, where are you shifting at, and if you drag, where do you let out the clutch to avoid loss of traction, i am thinking of starting at around 2500, and shifting around 6000, do you think that sounds about right?
