I have an interesting theory on the whole intake CEL thing. the common code is a P0171 or P0174. Both i believe are lean codes. (i'm certain the P0174 is a lean code because i had it.) i noticed that shortly after I installed my CAI, I got a CEL. I checked it out and all looked good and i cleared the code. 3 days later, the code came back again! so i do a little further investigation. I take the filter off the intake tube and notice that the MAF has a little bit of moisture on it. then it hit me that it had rained the same day or the day before i got the codes. I dried the filter and MAF and then bought a K&N drycharger to prevent excess moisture from getting through the filter and to the MAF. Sure enough, 3 months and thousands of miles later, i no longer get a CAI related CEL.
So what i would like to know is of the groups of people that have aftermarket CAI's or the Airbox mod, how many of you have gotten the lean CEL. and if you have gotten the CEL, did you have a drycharger/hydroshield/or equivelent filter wrap on your filters.
Please only Vote if you have had a CAI/box mod for a considerable amount of time (i.e. longer than 2 moths or 3,000 miles)

this is the K&N drycharger. you just stretch it over the filter and it covers it and prevents excess moisture from entering the filter. (THIS WILL NOT HELP YOU IF YOU SUBMERGE YOUR FILTER!!) http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=RF-1035DK
i got the CEL a few days after i installed my Fujita CAI, and kept getting it every time after it rained, well a friend who acutally is on this site, recommended putting the drycharger and havnt thrown a CEL since, and i threw the drycharger on last year but i forget when
the p0171 and 174 are not lean codes... i found that out when i got mine and researched... had something to do with the computer adding more than x amount of fuel or something. it's not a problem, can just be deleted, nothing is being harmed from that code.
