Question Another intercooler question...

Hello guys, i just had a quick question I'm new to this whole new boosted stuff and i just wanted to ask whats the difference between my stock intercooler and those fancy shorter aluminum ones? I hit a bump and had to get the condensor and apparently now my intercooler changed as well.. why does mine look all "cheap" lol

That is the stock Heat Exchanger. It is a good unit for what it needs to do on an unmodified engine.

A lot of the HE units you are seeing are used in 'series' with the stock unit to add efficiency to the cooling system for the Supercharger/Intake manifold.

You can buy a unit to completely replace the stock unit and not run a secondary unit.

For example I have the stock unit and a 2nd H/E mounted behind the front grill. mine came from a Mercedes AMG which the owner had modded and needed more cooling.

Here is one that replaces the stock unit and provides additional cooling.
ZZPerformance - ZZP Stealth Heat Exchanger #ZZ-STLTHE

If your original unit is toasted then this might be a good option unloess you have access to one from a wrecking yard.

Don't confuse your heat exchanger with an intercooler.

No. The S3 (Stage 3) is an additional H/E to be used in conjunction with your current stock unit.

I believe the only unit which replaces the stock unit is the "Stealth".

You are probably going to pay that much for a stock replacement from a dealer unless you can find one at a wrecker.
