It's not the design they use now (the LNF style one), but i'm sure it was an updated style from the earliest ones. There were subtle changes along the way, but obviously, based on the amount of '07 cars with problems, they never got it right until now.

I'd say this is a must for any LSJ of any Year. It's $40 and can save your engine, just do it and sleep good at night. The install wasn't that bad, I removed the valve cover and that made it much easier.

Did the RPMs spike aswell?

So I have heard a slight ticking, but I also have been driving around alot and recently my tach started to jump around 3,500to 5k back down then runs fine is kinda got me worried

The build date on mine is 11/06 and to this date with 53k I have had no problems with the tensioner.

It won't sound like an exhaust leak, it'll sound like a LOUD rattle in the valvetrain or the supercharger coupler.

So glad I found out about this! My car would randomly make a weird ticking/rattling noise at idle, not all the time though. Glad there is a fix.

If it's bad enough it may sound like a lego piece is rattling around somewhere. I add to these post when I see them. I recommend always taking off the valve cover when fixing this issue. so many people don't and that's just lazy.
I took my car in for warranty to fix this and they found other issues. The ended up having to replace a cam that some how hard scaring on it. So this is what can happen if it gets worse. So always a good idea to inspect these things.

besides convenience or checking for other damage I don't know of any other reason to take of the valve cover.
