Back to Stock Tuning...

Hey guys, I'm turning the car back to stock tomorrow, and was gonna try and tweak the stock tune to get the most power I can out of the car safely.

A few things I need to know. On the STOCK injectors and pulley:

-Is it safe to run it lean...like mid 11's?
-Is it safe to run high timing, as long as there is no knock?
-Is it safe to run a higher redline (~7200RPM)...

I'll be using the stock injector table that came on the car.

Well I've heard once you get into the 12's, that's dangerous territory. I was told that 11.7 is the best area.

Remember...this is on the STOCK injectors, on the STOCK GM injector table...

well. to answer your question. yes, the car can be tuned stock and you can see a slight increase in power. nothing crazy to write home about. and it probably won't even be noticible to your foot seat of your pants unless you are able to make seperate runs at the track

I would have to disagree. I've ran multiple diff tunes on the same setup I had, and after playing with timing (the stock table is weak), PE mode AFR and enrichment rate, and upping the redline, I've seen different gains in power in both the power band and on the track.

That's what I'm hoping to accomplish with this...The only performance mod that will be on the car will be a 2.5" Magnaflow catback. No intake, stock header and DP, no meth.

I just wanted to know if the stock injectors could handle a higher redline than the stock 6500 and the higher timing. I have 60's in the car right now, but they are coming out tomorrow. I guess since I'll be back on the stock pulley, i should be able to run more timing and the higher redline with no problems. Guess I'll find out tomorrow...

And yeah, it probably wouldn't be much more than 10-15hp, atleast not without other mods. Most all the other stuff I had has been sold off the car, or taken off to be sold.
