bad timing chain?

i was driving on the freeway about 80mph when i felt the car kind of heavy. i would put it on neutrel and rev it and boost gauge wouldnt go up. at the end i ended up pulling over. as i was doing this i noticed a very small kind of knoking noise. i shut off the car right away. towed it home. ive opened the valve cover everythign seems good. but the chain is really really loose. could it be that the tensioner mest up? just put a new one 1 month ago.

The SS/TC is the "new style".

It's also oil pressure activated I beleive, so with the engine off and no oil pressure I imagine that it would be loose.

with the engine off the new tensioner will keep the chain tight the plunger will lock in place for start up when the oil pressure comes back up it releases so it can do its job so i would replace it and check the engine timing and chain tension

If the timing jumps enough to bend valves you'd know. Sucks that are engines are interference engines.

You should also get a CEL if it jumps for crank postition vs timing (something along those lines, I can't remember the exact ones. But there is a CEL for it.)

Thanks for the correction, thats pretty cool. How exactly does it lock though?

It's gonna take some force to turn the crank. At least On my civic with a socket on the crank pulley bolt it took some ummphh to turn the crank when I was putting each cylinder at TDC to adjust my valves
