squirt a little bit of water on the belt while running. if the pitch or anything changes, its probably the belt. once it warms up, the belt might get a little more grip and not squeal on you. i suggest replacing the belt. wat kind of car?

How many miles on the car? The belt probably just needs to be replaced.

I have a brand new belt (well, 15k miles on it) and my car does this. Did it with stock belt, stage 2 belt, and this new one every winter the last 2 years and starting again this winter... ugh

67,000 kms isn't that bad, belt should be ok still.

Not sure what else to check. It could be that one of the pulleys is slightly misaligned, or maybe the idler pulley is "sticking" and allowing too much play on the belt until it warms up then the belt tightens up...

Just throwing out some ideas...

I also have an 06 SS/SC, and mine has done this for awhile.. I have 32k miles and it has been doing it for atleast half that. The colder the startup, the longer and louder the squeal/chirping is.

I believe mine is caused from the belt tensioner. It has minor side to side play, and has been slooowly rubbing at the belt. I can see a lil bit of rubber on my hood matt from where it has been chaffing on the belt.

Check yours for any side to side play. My guess is yours is doing the same thing as mine.

I am going to be replacing it, and expect the noise to go away..
