I don't doubt that you are a competent tuner and clearly you are doing fine at what you do, and I guess we just have a disagreement on what is the proper way to build a car. I would much rather error on the side of safety and go all out on the cooling mods then I would risk it a little. I guess that's just me, but that's what I was taught as proper when I was growing up. To each their own I guess.

I would rather spend my money on traction mods before I start throwing on pulleys and such, the biggest issue with the Cobalt is not power but it's traction so for those all important quartermile times you can probably gain more out of mounts, and traction bars then you can out of stage 2. Again that's just my opinion.

I don't have Cobalt tuning experience yet, but I have some LS1 experience and I was taught how to tune on a DSM. I feel like my opinion is very valid when we are talking about engine building because I've been there just not on the Cobalt yet. I'm doing my research before I start throwing money at it.

seems like we've all calmed down, and gotten our points across, but i'd say your line^^

needs to be said over and over again, people need that forced down there neck before they can mod there car.

i had poly trannie mounts and engine mounts, plus poly suspension bushings before i went beyond my 2.9/42's....its to hard to hold down if you plan on hitting the almighty 1320 offten

yeah, but I would replace all the mounts, and probably get traction bars. I think you would see a rather big drop in quartermile times. Then you are prepared to hook up whatever power you throw at the car.

Wow , someone doesnt like reliability , if you use 42lb injectors with a 2.8 your (im gonna say this slow) I-N-J-E-C-T-O-R D-U-T-Y C-Y-C-L-E , will be WAY over 100% when if your looking for a reliable car you dont want your IDC to go over 90% , good call on the 2.8 and 42lbers

here are all the threads telling you NOT to run 42 lbers on a 2.8 maybe you should read them before your reading the gm build book

oh and here ill even throw in a thread where , rob the guy that runs a 12.8 and 06fastss OWN you

Ya i know rob well...ive stay at his house, drove his car, and learned to tune from him

a 2.8 on 42.5lbers produces a safe air fuel ratio...roughly 11.8 at the top end

IDC is over 100%...yess I know that...but the afr is safe (ever seen a stock ss/sc,irl iidc...its 95% stock)

and brian...i was just saying if ur gonna go that route dont waste even mroe money on the gm pulley upgrade...get ur own 2.8 and save some cash

gm is lowest on my list in terms of hp/$

edit: LOLOMG...that thread i made FOR rob showing that stock idcs were too high in reply to rev it up motorsports claiming a 2.8 w/ a smt-6 was safe

Right after that post i ordered a maf-t and 42.5lbers...then had 60lbers and hptuners 3 days after it was released

Owned?...i think not

It's pretty much common knowledge that you don't want your idc to be over 80% ever. Oh who cares, I give up.

IDC over 80% = risky!

do yourself a favor and get 60lb injectors, they allow for more headroom if you end up modding in the future.
