Best IAT2s?
Best IAT2s?
I'm not sure if this has been talked about before, but I haven't seen it. What IAT2s give the best performance? I know the colder the better blah blah blah. But i'm looking for specific numbers that are possible to achieve in 80 degree+ weather. For example, is there a difference between xxx degrees and xxx degrees as far as performance?
Anything above 140-150 loses performance.
Also depends on the tune.. you can make the ecu pull spark later or sooner.
And even if you tuned it so it would pull spark at a higher temp, things would still go wrong with detonation.

No not so much...I mean... 130 could be considered a wee bit high.. but... Tune speaking, no.
You may lose some power due to air density (hot air is less dense).. but probly not till you go over 130 or so

whats your secondary h/e?
I dont have any cooling mods and im no where near that.
141 IAT2 after dead stop till top of 4th gear. So 130ish after 3rd gear pull.
All I have is CAI and 2nd heat exchanger.
Timing is pulled by two after 141 and then as temp rises it pulls more.
Difference between say 80 and 130 is gonna be roughly 10hp at best. Remeber the colder the better which is why nitrous (sprayed at -65 degrees
) provides a bigger help to S/C users than N/A.
As long as you keep the IAT2 below 120 (in Florida) your doing good and can bump the timing a few degrees as long as it will stay in that range.

During the winter I don't think its possible for me to hit over 100 on my iat2's, during the summer though they hover right around 105 to 115 depending on how many back to back pulls I do. Gotta love meth.
my c/a heat exchanger didnt seem to help much if at all. i was running a 2.8" with 60s. on an 80+ degree day my iat2 would see 145 after a pass down the 1/4.
blah. i need mef but dont wanna spend the $

Its not like 50 thousand degree difference.. it mostly helps with getting the coolant in and out of the intake manifold faster so it could be cooled by the heat exchanger.
