Black smoke?

My friends keep telling me that whenever I speed up really fast, it blows out alot of black smoke? Is this normal?

I've had enough issues with this car lately.

Had alot of problems with it recently, but since i've got all the problems fixed, it is running better then ever.

Untill my friend brought this up to me yesterday.

I smelled a burning smell for about a week, smelled like the clutch, but thats gone away now.

running rich isn't exactly a BAD thing.. and you wont feel it "running bad" depending on how rich it is.. make sure to check next time.. that's probably what it is.

It has been useing more gas, but how does 'running rich' even happen?
I havent done any mods to the engine in forever.

Maybe it's BEEN running rich for a while and now is the first time someone said anything about it? Haha if you're running really rich you could lean it out and the car will actually run better too.

Maybe it has been doing it for awhile.

I really dont know.

Would it make a burning smell similar to a clutch though?

check your coolant temps next time the car is warmed up. Could be she isnt getting up to full temp, or it could be the bank 1 O2 sensor not quite reading properly

Did you get the diesel performance option?

If your running rich all of a sudden huh? Pull your spark plugs and see what they look like. A spark plug can tell you alot about how your engine runs.

yeah, just turn up the injector pump and start coughing..... That **** is annoying, but funny when they go too high and have to crimp the fuel lines to get the motor to shut down

Nope, not normal. There are several things that can cause it. The Stage 2 mod could be the cause. Could be an O2 sensor, could be the coolant temp sensor, could be the MAF sensor, could be several others. Best thing to do is take it to a shop especially if its still under warranty, unless the OP knows someone with an advanced obdII scan tool like a Snap-On Solus

Does it have GM Stage 2 tune? Cause that's supposed to be a fuel hog. Looks like it may be time to invest in a wideband to keep an eye on AFR's. If you go WOT, you should expect to get some black smoke out the tailpipe for a split second until the system can level itself out, but over-riching is better than going too lean...
