Blocking leakage ports
Blocking leakage ports
So hypothetically if someone wanted to block off these leakage ports with quiksteel....how.much is needed? Is a 2oz tube sufficient? More? Better to you weld plate?
I assume you are referring to the silencer ports on the supercharger? If so some will tell you welding could cause the casing to warp and others will say it is fine if done carefully. I know we have at least one member on here who has used quiksteel successfully I'm sure that job would need to be done carefully as well with appropriate surface prep for good adhesion and care not to extend the glob into the milled out rotor section.
i did my blower with quick steel 8 year ago, still holding up fine. welding is said to be a no-no, eaton themselves says dont do it, itll warp the case. honestly if the people that engineer the blower say that, its good enough reason to me not to do it.
when i did mine i had the blower apart, it made it easier. you need to prep the hole and around the hole, i used a die grinder. after that clean it well and put the quick steel over the hole and pushing part way into it, being careful not to get it too far in causing the rotors to hit it.
