CA Stage 6
Hey guys,
So I'm doing research into some performance mods, for down the road in a couple of months. And I know going anything under a 2.7 pulley and your need some cooling mods. I know a couple people on here have 2.5 pullies with meth? and a heat exchanger? How safe is this?
Because I am seriously looking into the CA Stage 6 Kit. To me it looks like it comes with everything to make it a pretty safe upgrade. Anyone wanna give me some insite? And it says it gives about 90hp and 100TQ over stock? will this really put you in the 300hp range?

If you intend to run nitrous on top of that set-up you will need at a minimum: pistons, head studs. Axles and clutch would probably also be a good idea.
But w/o nitrous that set-up looks pretty comparable to what most 2.5" pulley guys end up doing.

I don't plan to nitrous at all. Just wondering if this would be safe without nitrous? Like has anyone blown anything up with these kind of upgrades?

I"ve been running a modified version for almost a year now. In full trim minus the nitrous I put down 296whp and 271 wtq. Goin back to the dyno in about 2 weeks with some new little tricks and aiming to break 300whp on pump... then the motor comes out, and turbo goes in

I don't know of anyone running that particular tune, but it looks like it has all of the supporting mods needed to keep the engine happy on a 2.5" pulley. That being said, boxed tunes like this aren't always gonna work exactly the same on every single car, local conditions (alt, climate, etc) can lead to unexpected issues.
If you can, try to get someone with HPTuners to log your ride after installation or get a wideband and interceptor to keep an eye on the vitals

only thing I plead with people on going that far is...
A: learn how to work on your car
B: monitor everything you can
C: put a damn wideband in it
It is always a good idea to bring your car to a local shop afterwards (or a friend that can tune) and just dial in the tune for your specific car. Their tune is setup to be safe, but safe doesn't always make the power you want. Plus depending on elevation, and your area's climate, you can always get more out of the car then the "boxed" tune.
Now to just add to this. All the C/A stage kits were tested on my car and usually maintained @11.4.11-7 afr and depending on if you run meth, timing anywhere from 15 degrees to 22-23. There are a lot of hours in those tunes also. Plus my car is one of the few that I know of still running with a 2.5 pulley.

But also B + C are musts. Unless you can afford to buy a new car when this one breaks, iy is CRITICAL to keep an eye on your baby's vitals.

A lot of people have been loosing the 4th piston lately so you definately wanna look into making sure you have all your cooling mods done right. Hell, new pistons may not be a bad idea.

Alright, Thanks guys, Ya I would deffanately get a wideband before this and I do know of a shop around here that has HP Tuners so I could get the car tuned there. I dont plan on get this for a couple months, I just want to get a little more in the know, now that I own the car insted of just stalkin around on the boards haha

i think all stage kits from vendors should include a wideband! but heres my view comming from a nitrous guy, i have been spraying nitrous (75 shot) for almost a year, i have put over 100lbs of nitrous through it. i just recently dropped a cylinder after spraying 40lbs of N2O in a month through my 2.7 pulley and supporting mods. if you use the nitrous sparingly itll last a long time! the key to keeping the motor togeather is tuning!

I'm running the CA stage 4 kit. The box tune is decent, but a bit rich. I'm getting mine retuned soon. Like 06blackg85ss said getting a good tune from a friend or shop is ideal
