Talking Called Spec about their clutches :)

Ok, just knowing that the spec clutches weren't any good wasn't good enough for me. Soooo, I took the liberty of calling them directly today and a gentleman by the name of Matt informed me that the reason for the constant failure is that the customers are always mating their product with a stock/refinished factory flywheel. He stated that they needed to be combined with either their flywheel, or the fidanza equivilant. Since the clutch design is a self adjusting one, it does not catch properly and release because of something with the material of the factory design. I compared this information to that I have gained from this awesome forum about the Exedy hyper one. It seems that the Exedy clutch is engineered to work in conjunction with its corresponding unit. Supposedly, when the Spec units are combined with each other they are supposed to be unbeatable. I am not sure if this is old news to some, but I decided to try it anyways. I will be purchasing their stage 3+ clutch and flywheel and will report on my findings.

Thank you for taking the time to read my article.

The SPEC Stage 3+ is flat out an AWESOME clutch for the money, and even better when combined with the SPEC Aluminum light weight flywheel.

Never heard of any locals having shifting issues... It is smooth, I have driven it before and liked it a lot.
