cam bolt
cam bolt
i just did a head gasket job an my lsj do u reallly need to replace the cam bolts i mean i turqued them down and the another 30 degrees i don think i will have any problems has any one on here ever had any problems
yeah i know this but there is not that much tension on those 2 bolts they just hold the gears on to the cams and i just wanted to know if any body has had any problems with them breaking on here before
Just figure that with torque-to-yield bolts.. every time they are tightened to the torque spec, they stretch. So will it hold properly? Possibly. Will it be as snug in those threads as the first time? No. Your gamble. lol.
You can reuse them, if YOU want to. I personally, along with 99% of the mechanical population would replace them. Just dont come back here 2 months from now saying how its a crappy car if/when the cam gears fall off.
you can save a few bucks on them, just to risk hundreds of $ from damage because of them not working properly.
if you're worried about a $16 bolt that you need, then sell the car and buy a used geo metro
*** hey i just realized something, did the OP use the same head bolts as well? hell those are alot more than the cam bolts. $2.95 says he did LOL ***
no im not worried about 16 bucks but i mean if u guys are getting them for 6 then y pay 10 more and i dont know what u mean when u say op but no i did not use the old head bolts im not stupid
