Cam timing chain guide bolts upgrade

Here it is boys and girls the first set of timing chain guide upgrade bolts. MrB and I brain stormed about the idea and I made it happen. 100%Meth will be the first to test this out in his engine.
The stock bolts r rated at 85,000-90,000 psi tensile strength. These custom made arp bolts bolts r rated at 170,000-180,000 psi tensile strength. The stock bolts get torqued to 89 inch pounds. The new arp bolts get a torque of 11 foot pounds or 132 inch pounds for the stock size replacements that require no mods to the block.
And for the larger bolts that require block modifications will get a torque of 24 foot lbs or 288 inch lbs.
These bolts should add alot more strength for the engine with cams and reving high rpm.

Far right is the bolt that goes behind the plug in the head

The far left is the bolt that will go into the tensioner chain guide on the exhaust side.

The middle is the bolt that will holds the bottom of the black chain guide on the intake side
of the engine.

We do have a stock replacent.

There will be 2 different sizes
One set goes right in the stock block
The other u have to over size the holes in the block for m8x1.25
Stock size is m6x1.00

Although I didnt have a direct hand in this, I would like to think I had a hand in the motivation to move forward with a fix. After all I was the first to use a 10.9 grade bolt in the stock bolt locations after my bolts broke.

This has been a plan for almost a year.
And the main problem is the the bolt in the head not just the one u replaced.

ur grade 10.9 is rated at maybe 120,000-130,000 psi tensile strength. and thats on the tensioner chain guide. wat mrb and i came up with is rated well over 170,000 psi tensile strength on all the bolts.

List the shear mechanical properties of the bolts since they are seeing stress at the threads (shear) not pulled by the head of the bolt (tensile).

Get a vendor membership if you are going to sell stuff. Support the board dont abuse it.

Ill have to call arp. I figured ppl on here were intelligent enought to know that the sheer is proportional to the tensile strength.

As much as i would like to contribute to this forum i was tryin to share wat is avaliable. I dont do this for much profit if any. If anyone has issues with this ill keep my findings and ideas to myself. And trust me theres plenty more in the works.

Good to hear. I wouldnt stick to with those numbers cuz every bolt manufacture is different and has there own aloys they use which can change the strength of the bolt alot thats y u should never look at the high end of the chart. The range for a grade 10.9 is 130,000-150,000. Arp has a tighter tolerance 170,000-180,000.

But my consern is the intake side chain guide bolts.
I think the reason urs broke was cuz the bolt was over torqued during assembly or was weakened before. The reason i say this is cuz alot of ppl dont have a inch pounds torque wrench and just wing it by feel. 89 inch lbs isnt alot of torque. Its very easy to over do it.
