can u just pulley swap (no tune) ?

my buddy found a shop that sells a smaller pulley from AMS (forgot what size, MAYBE a 3" but lets talk any size) for the ss now, at a decent price, and i'm thinkin about hopping on it.

the thing is, there is so much info about tuning that i'm not sure (since im a newb) if i can put on a smaller pulley and the car wont run like ****? or can i?

i know i would need a tune in order to achieve maximum gains for the pulley, but will the car run ok without a tune or injectors? the thing is i have a non gm warranty and i want to be able to switch the pulleys back to stock if somn' goes wrong.

also, for anyone that may have done this, would u recommend it/any gains?

already have a injen intake. ANY help, MUCH appreciated. thanks

3" is stage 2 size IIRC, you would need 42.5# injectors and any time you change injectors you will need a tune.

Besides, the stock tune limits boost, so you would make boost faster but you would not see anything above stock boost levels.

yea, thats kinda what i thought, using ricer diagnostics.. for the supercharger to spin faster means i need more fuel to compensate all the air going through the engine, and at that point i need the tune. fml, i'm really regretting my warranty because i want to mod the **** out of this car. so much potential waiting to be unleashed.. what a shame

Sometimes you can cancel the aftermarket warranty and get a refund on the balance. May want to call and ask.

yea, i know... just worried thats all, my luck goes on the terms that once i decide i don't need something i need the **** out of it. so im screwed either way lol.

then again, i'm sure if, say, i blow my engine, they will tell me 'roo, ur cars abused, no warranty work' and tell me to **** off.

I never had any problem with warrenty work, and I was on a 2.7, ported head, 60s, full exhaust, etc. As long as you can explain to them how your mods had no affect on what broke you should be good. Now this means don't go in and say I nuked a piston cause I pullied down and my injectors went static

Things break when you mod. Its bound to happen. Just pay to play.

yea pretty much any smaller than stock you have to change injectors. if u go to a 3.0" pulley u need to upgrade to at least 42's and when u change injectors u have to retune. if you go smaller than 3.0" pulley ur safest bet would be to jump again to 60's. as long as u drive the car with some sence and have a good tune u won't break stuff. but always have some money saved for when it's needed.

well look at it this way. if you keep it stock, you can abuse the crap out of it for a lot longer until something breaks. That's why mine is completely stock. The most enjoyable part of driving is to utilize the car to its full potential regardless of the power.... unless the only kind of racing you do is in a striaght line.

Agreed but with that said, save some money cuz you ARE gonna break something eventually

Well you will notice a loss of power running the AC in the heat or the cold. The AC pump robs mad power by itself.
