Car Sitting for a year! Crank, No Start
Car Sitting for a year! Crank, No Start
Hi everyone,
I recently got back from deployment so my car has been sitting, not being started or anything for a year. Obviously battery was dead but so I had to jump it to get it out of where it was. I bought a new battery everything was fine but the radio and AC did not work now. I was trying to trouble shoot the AC and read that you can swap the relay with the fuel pump to see if it was good or not. I did that, car started then died. So I assumed it was the relay. I swapped them back and now my car wont start. I bought two new relays just in case and put them in and it did not work. On the first turn the car will start and then it will die after a couple of seconds, then it will just crank with no turnover. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
P.s. I know its not the spot but if you have any ideas about the radio that would be appreciated as well. No power to the aftermarket amp or head unit. Radio fuse inside the cab and amp fuse next to the battery look fine. Thanks!

Update:
I borrowed a friends code reader and code read P0230. I got this off the internet.

P0230 CHEVROLET Possible Causes
What does this mean?- Faulty Fuel Pump Relay
- Fuel Pump Relay harness is open or shorted
- Fuel Pump Relay circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
A lot of possibilities.
I'd check the fuel pressure at the rail. Maybe even pull the rail and put it in some cups to ensure the injectors are firing properly. Sitting for a year with E10-E15 in the tank can cause problems.
Not throwing any codes?
I dunno on the radio or A/C. Do you mean the A/C Compressor or the HVAC fan?

If swapping the relays seemed to cause problems, try getting some electrical contact cleaner. Spray it in the relay socket, and make sure the socket is making contact with the relays. When turning the key from off, to Run without going to start, you can normally hear the fuel pump prime the system for a second or two. As for the radio, if the fuses look fine, pull them out and ohm check them anyway just to make sure. Keeping in mind, you may need to clean the sockets for those as well.
Have you tried erasing the code after you replaced the relays? Maybe once that code is detected the computer won't energize the relay with that fault. Won't be able to diag the a/c til its running.
