Car threw three codes today..

Ok guys my car has been acting a little funny for a few days there is a very strange audible vibration that seems to only occur at 2900 Rpm which I hadn't paid much attention to as I figured it was a loose plastic piece or perhaps my intake has gotten loose and was vibrating, in any case today on the way home from golf I let a bud of mine drive the car and it threw three codes p0101, p0103, and p0172 which i found strange because he was babying the car a lot more than I typically do when I drive the car. Does anybody have any idea what these codes in combination might represent or what the vibration could be.

Thanks guys,

The P0101 and P0103 are Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor codes , the P0172 says your running rich. Since you have a CAI, it sounds to me like the MAF sensor has some oil on it and needs to be cleaned off. Try and clean it with some brake clean or something that won't leave residue. That should fix it. Disconnect your battery to clear the codes if you don't have a scan tool.

Well, if its not oil then:

A code P0103 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad
The MAF sensor may be damaged
The vehicle computer may be faulty (very rare)

The other two codes are likely a direct result of this problem. Check out the MAF sensor.

check for any leaks or unbolted parts on your intake. I had an airbox mod and didn't hook up the piping tight enough and had a leak after the MAF and threw a couple of those codes. Also, if you can't find a problem in the piping, clean your MAF with electrical contact cleaner, may help some.

hey guys just a quick update I found the culprit, there is a large crack in my flex pipe. The exhaust had been getting progressively louder over the past few weeks since the vibration started and my mechanic buddy that found it said the crack is between a few sensors in the exhaust which could be causing my codes.
