Catback question?

I finally received my TOG header after a long screwed up delivery and tomorrow I am going in to get a custom exhaust designed. My question is can I just omit the catalytic converter without throwing a CEL code? I am thinking of having the exhaust built so i can reinstall the cat if ever needed. I don't have to have my car tested for 4 more years. What do you more learned tuners think?
Thanks

There's a few members that are running without the converter without any CEL. Just be warned, if you're caught without it, you can face serious charges pending what state you're in.

I could not see how an OBD 2 vehicle running around without a cat would not throw a code. If I were you just save your downpipe\cat and have a custom catless downpipe made and just swap the 2 when you have to re-inspect.

I would advise against it. Your cat is not restrictive enough to really cause you to lose a lot fo power. If you do insist on taking it out though, you can get a clip for the O2 sensor to alter the readings I believe.

yeah you can get an O2 simulator if you throw a code, they're only like $8 or something

just get a high flow cat to put on....

don't plan on passing emissions w/o a cat. and yea, if you get caught...be prepared to pay out your ass for fines from the epa.

except I am in Canada and we don't have the epa up here and we let major criminals go so not having a cat installed means only putting it back on and get it inspected. And then pull it out again

i would reccomend putting a high flow cat on b/c it will sound better than w/o a cat and its just better over all for everything. BUT if you dont want to have a cat then go and get an O2 simmulator and put that in .......... itll work but i dont reccomend doing it ........ i would rather have a high flow than nothing, but thats just me.

i had them on my Z...no rasp, no CEL, and still passed emissions even when combined with headers and a full custom 3" cat-back

the exhaust shop I went to said that our cat is already a high flow and he sees no reason to change it as it is already a 3 inch cat. so for now I will keep the cat in and see once I do my engine in March wether I want to yank it out a see what happens.
Thanks for all the fed back guys.
