ya dealerworld just says that its due to clogged injectors usually relating to a running lean condition but all gm will do is run an injector cleaner through your fuel line. so save yourself hassle and go and buy an injector cleaner. also did you just put an intake on your car. those have a tendancy to throw that code as well.

didn't know that the ecm has a code for an aftermarket intake. but considering adding an aftermarket intake that may possibly have a leak in it will usually throw this code as the vehicle is tricked into thinking its running lean when its actually not thus causing the code to be thrown.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bulletin is being revised to update the model year to 2008. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-06-04-030E (Section 06 -- Engine/Propulsion System).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment on any of the following various driveability symptoms:

• Extended Crank Time

• Hard to Start

• MIL/SES Illuminated with DTCs

• Hesitation

• Lack of Power

• Surge or Chuggle

• Rough Idle

• Light or Intermittent Misfire

Cause
Due to various factors, the fuel injectors may become restricted. Extensive testing has demonstrated that fuel related issues are the cause of clogged injectors. At this point, no specific fuel, fuel constituent, or engine condition has been identified as causing the restriction. The restriction causes the engine to operate at a lean air fuel ratio. This may either trigger the MIL to illuminate or the engine to develop various driveability symptoms.

Correction
Fuel injector restrictions, deposits can be cleaned on the vehicle using the following procedure. Under NO circumstances should this procedure be modified, changed or shortened. As a long term solution, and to prevent reoccurrence, customers should be encouraged to use Top Tier Detergent Gasoline . For further information on Top Tier detergent gasoline and fuel retailers, please refer to the following Corporate Bulletin Numbers:

go disconnect your intake where the tubes meet and tell me what code you throw.

just sayin....don't want some kid gettin the code and going WTF I have a stock intake hah

besides, most the time if you have a leak between the MAF and throttle body you will get a p0171 for a lean condition...since there is unmetered air entering the motor

ya either way if you are stock and you get this code as i have and my brother while being stock. you just need to run a fuel line/injector cleaner in your tank and it will clear it up. i have yet to have it come back my LT fuel trim is at 0% which is as perfect as you can get it. now my brother on the other hand was at 19% and ended up having his injectors replaced according to a bulletin that is out for them.
