Cheap Scan Tool LSJ Support

What you guys think. we need the $240 CAN version. it supports GM enhanced features for the lsj and if your a student its 20% off making it less than an interceptor. What you think?

Actually I know someone with one of these cables, and he loves it...
Last I spoke with him it didnt function with the LSJ, but according to the web-site there's a *.bin file to download (FREE) to make it directly compatible with the LSJ so I'll see if he'll download it and I'll try it out.

Keep in mind you dont need CAN to communicate with the LSJ PCM. It's actually the only module on the car that's still J1850 VPW (OBDII / Class2) so maybe you dont need the more expensive CAN version?? (since it doesnt look like it provides any data streaming from any of the other chassis and body modules)

I e-mailed and called the guy to ask him I'm just waiting for a reply. They dont have a 2.0L for the 2005 list but the 2.2 it says CAN. maybe it talks to more than just the pcm and needs the CAN to get other stats. I dunno.

I picked up on of these tools a few months ago on sale for $149.00 CDN. It works very well and you can clear codes.

LOL I bought the same one on sale this past summer, works like a charm. No need for the more expensive CAN version.

I've had this software for 3 years & the great thing is this guy wrote the first OBDII program & he offers free lifetime updates it works great.

I need to DL the updates & & play with it on my Cobalt as I used it on my Tahoe all the time & it's great for run real time tests as you can copy the test & compare.

True, if that's all you're looking for. While asthetically pleasing and all, the Aeroforce has a limited data set and as I'm sure you're aware is no substitute for a "real" scan tool.

The Tech2 has approx 120 PIDs available in the "Engine Controls" data stream, and this $150 tool appears to equal that as well as providing end user access to items such as the IM flags (mode $04), calibration ID's (CVNs via mode $09) and mode $06 OBD test monitoring (which is quite useful when tuning and having to deal with the new airflow rationality diagnostics such as P0101,P0121P1101,P1182 etc...)

However not everyone will be into having a laptop taking up "shotgun"
