sorry if this has been asked before but i just bought a 2006 cobalt ss and wanted to put change air intake filter. will it cause a check engine light? thanks in advance.

 

AEM =no.

 

My K&N one did, but once I got the GM Stage 2 and the reflash, I haven't had one since.

 

It all depends on what brand you get, how you install, and the car.

 

what do you mean by reflash? did you have the car custom tuned? or did it come with the stage2 kit? thanks.

 

The stage 2 kit has a reflash as part of the package.

I may be mistaken, but if you call your dealer and ask to have the newest program, there is a cure for the CEL due to intakes.

One Cel with the Injen, and well since stage 2 nothing.

 

You can get away with an intake SOMETIMES with out a CEL IF you do an Airbox mod(like me) you will not have that issue and BELEVE ME if you realy cut and mod that air box i'll bet that the mod and K&N filter are giveing me dam close to the same hp increase as a $200+ intake...my other mods make up for that possible 1-2hp diff!

if you do go with a GM stage kit, an Intence stage kit, or the HPtuners softwear you can totaly resolve this issue
