Check engine lite. NO HIGH END POWER.

So i'm driving home from work yesterday and check engine light comes on. My car was running a little rough earlier this month. I had an exhaust leak due to shitty reused stock gasket when i put that hahn cat back on. Well replaced that and car was running fine untill yesterday. So i pull over and check the oil and coolant levels. They where fine. idle seemed to be ok. so i get on it and at about 5k there's no power. the s/c is screaming but i'm not going anywhere. so i get almost home and it goes into limp mode. I also noticed the boost is running high as f'k lately 20 psi. Is my cat cogged? I'm asuming i have to put stock cat back and engine mount on if i expect to get covered by warrenty. any suggestions. at idle the s/c also sounds like it's chattering. should i find an origional air filter/box. for warrenty reasons i have a the cone filter air box mod. . also what spark plugs does the dealer use for stage 2.

Edit ahahahha lol. ooops. Check engine. *LIGHT

yeah i would put the stock motor mount back on. intake they could call you on for the check engine light. some dealerships say they cant accurately diagnose something if there is a different intake on. exhaust you should be fine. they can say anything.

I would put the stock intake on for sure , thats a biggie for dealers to blame any rich lean stuff on . They could say it screwed with the maf and caused the A/F to change clogging the cat lol. No **** i've heard that said by a tech. Seeing as you have a hahn CB , a after market DP would be a nice addition to the exhaust system. The stock downpipe is the most restrictive part of the whole system, and it definitely sounds like its clogged.

Oh the dealership uses the stock plugs for stage 2 , NGK R PFR6T-10G

Thanks for the reply's guys. Does aftermarket cat back void warrenty? I'm assuming it does. Now i need to find a stock air filter/box. thanks for your help.

well that's my guess. What's your thought on putting the stock exhaust back on before taking to dealer. I just tlaked to a friend of mine who was a mechanic for ford and he said they can't deny me for haveing a cat back seeing as how it's a bolt on.

ehh, i would since the cat is in the exhaust system and they could end up blaming it on that, but technically it shouldn't effect anything. It's up to you.

A CATBACK shouldnt mean anything to a dealer , it's away from anything that could fail . GM offers a catback so if theirs doesn't void a warranty either should any other brand. The only thing they could say is that the aftermarket exhaust was crushed or had a restriction that caused the cat to fail, highly unlikely thou.

Whats the code. If the code set has something to do with the exhaust, or intake they are probably not going to try to fix it under warranty, but thats up to them. Pull the code and go from there!!!
thanks

Well I wish i could say i checked the code before i posted. I don't have a scan tool, I'm currently out of town, and have been working and dealing with family and holiday stuff so haven't had the chance to make it to autozone to use theirs. I know It's like checking the fuses when you have an electrical problem. Again thanks for you comments and concerns.

High boost + no top end power = bad cat. I guarantee it.

They can't refuse service for either the motor mount nor the catback since neither could possibly ruin the cat itself, but I'd get the code checked to make sure it's not an intake code before dropping it off (and you might as well change that back since it's only a 15 minute job).

Well i must say the service guys at my Chevrolet dealer are above any i've heard of. I got the codes checked [P0420 catalyst eff. below threshold (bank 1)] and [p0068 MAF/MAP sensor throttle position correlation.] So i go to the dealer. I was stuck on the thought that the cat was clogged thinking all that back pressure caused the maf/map code. so i take it in. The service rep says well do you have a stock air filter. Of course I give him the wrong answer. NO. so he talks to his manager and they come walking out. They say look. You need to replace the filter with stock filter. The k&n filters have a oil coating that screws up the maf sensor. So replace that too. Then we can pretend we didn't have this conversation. Otherwise not covered under warrenty. Problem is i do not have the stock airbox. It has been modded for the cone filter. The intake is stock but the airbox is hacked and I do not know where to find one. Unless i order it through the dealer. Which wouldn't bother me too much seeing as how good those guys treated me. Any suggestions.
P.S. I work midnights and haven't been to bed, sorry for the grammer and spelling. But hay that's not why we're here anyways. Right?

If you want the warrenty work, i may have my stock air filter a round...

Well i believe you're right. They told me to replace the maf too, but i know you can clean it with electrical contact cleaner. Some cleaners like windex don't work because they leave a residue. a couple quick sprays from electrical contac cleaner allowing to dry between sprays. That's how i do it. I did it on my T-bird a couple times. They said as long as there's no oil on the maf and the stock air box is on they're replace the cat. If there is a problem there. I'm gonna try cleaning the maf and see if that fixes it.

Just get some MAF sensor spray cleaner from Autozone. It's like 7 bucks for a can that'll last you forever.

OK guys guess what. They fixed it. what did they do? oh um took the fur ball out. lol. New Cat and also replaced my by pass actuator solenoid/valve. So she idles correctly and runs like a champ. Oh my gosh. The exhaust sounds so much better too. I love my Hahn cat back. That cat was restricting my exhaust so bad. Now I can't hear the s/c anymore with the stock airbox on. Thank you everyone for your help and concerns with car.
