Clutch Help.............
Clutch Help.............
Hey guys. As most of you know, my spec 3+ is junk, and will not hold at the track. I haven't replaced it yet, since it holds on the street with street tires, and the tracks are closed anyway. Anywho, I will be putting a new one in before the track opens, and I'm curious if people have been having any luck with the Bulley Dog or Exedy clutches? I don't want to have to put a new clutch in my car every year, so I'd like to know which clutch has been successful for people in these cars. So for you guys who's clutch is holding just fine with your mods, what clutch are you using? Thanks for your help, we already know that spec and clutchmasters are not up to the task, so this information will help people down the road on which clutch to buy.
I"m ordering the Exedy hyper... but so far my stock clutch is fine... so no need to swap.
Only clutches I used on small motors was ACT and they were great, but of course nothing available for us (I ran a ACT 6 puck unsprung for 3 yrs on the car with multiple 7200 rpm launches and it lasted for the entire time I had the car)

will do... I might hold off til I put in the new motor since we will be testing a turbo setup on the stock motor... and then swapping in the built one,, I hate doing the clutches on these cars... but it may go in sooner than planned due to my new set of slicks for this track season... lol

Are you putting a new slave cylinder/throwout bearing too or just leaving the stock ones in?

I've been rocking the Exedy clutch for over a week now, and it's phenominal. I absolutely love it! The chatter is a little different to get used to, but once you get over that it's sweet. EXEDY FTW! I finally broke it in and romped on it. The clutch grabs and goes easily!
How's does it feel on the street? That's what I ordered from you guys just last week for my ride. I still do alot of grocery getting with this car and hope it's not too much more cumbersome compared to stock.
2K5SS/SC: Thanks for the info! I'm glad to finally hear from someone who has it. How is the pedal feel?
Thanks for all of the help, as you can see in my sig, I need a clutch that can withstand the track abuse-but still be tolerable for my daily driving. The Spec 3+ was not up to the task......
i ordered my stage4 and recieved it i was supposed to get a ceramic kevlar but i think they shipped me a full ceramic. i will write a review for it once it is installed and broken in.
I've had the full ceramic for couple weeks now and love it. Never before could I spin the wheels going into 3rd.
lsjwannabe, I will ask Mel about this but you have a PM.
As for daily driving, I've been in many traffic jams with this thing and have had no problems.
The clutch effort is actually pretty close to stock as Bully uses a bearing technology inside the pressure plate. Even my GF still drives the car with no problems, the only problem she has is people coming up to her saying "I think your exhaust is a little loud"
(no cat, no resonator)

Cool thanks again guys. It sounds like you really can't go wrong with either. I'm still about 4 weeks out from ordering mine, and it looks like we'll have more reviews at that time.
The chatter is noticeable, but not too bad. I could see it aggrivating people though that have issues with anything other than complete silence. The pedal feel was stiff at first even worse than my CM FX300 was, but it has since lightened a little. Stop and go traffic still sucks either way you look at it but nothing that isn't bearable either. Overall it's great.
