Clutch Problems At The Strip
Clutch Problems At The Strip
Especially now that I have a Stage2, when I hit second it has like a 1/2 second bog before it really catches....even does it into third but not as bad. I'm still hitting 13.7 @ high 102's, but I'm curious if I have to replace this clutch soon......what would it cost for a better clutch to be installed by GM. Anyone know a reputable aftermarket clutch or does GM offer anything? Any info or recommendations would be great guys. Thanks
GM doesn't make an upgraded clutch.

Interesting thought to chew on, if your going to get a new clutch you may want to get a light weight flywheel. Trick is with drag racing you want the heavy flywheel at the line to give you the inertia off the line, but the light weight flywheel would let the engine rev quicker reducing parasitic loss down the strip. Like I said interesting thought huh?
I would not mind a lightweight flywheel, BUT all that's going to do is get me to 7K faster. I (personally) want 1st to not get too much shorter. 1st gear is so short already that I'm not sure that's what I want. I think I've kinda begun ruining my clutch so I'll need to replace it sometime down the road so I figure if you're gonna do it, upgrade at the same time....especially with Stage 2 done and a 2.8" pulley coming very soon! I know that will also speed up 1st gear but I don't want to go overboard. Maybe a B&M shortshift, but after that I'm DONE modding this thing. $430 for the spec2+ clutch...yikes! Plus install, YIKES!
