clutch slip, belt slip, or something else?
hey all, yet another problem (maybe) that i want opinions on
just installed stage 2 last week. 2.8, and 60#s
everything went fine, she runs like a rape date, going through the gears smooth hitting between 15-17 psi probly.
over the last 2 days now, though, i've noticed, like if i whack it in mostly 2nd-3rd gear, the car is kind of acting like im getting wheelspin.
i'm pretty sure thats not the case, let me explain this phenominon
lets say im in 2nd gear going 30-40 mph and stomp on it. the rpms will climb, kind of hang out at 5000 rpms, maybe drop a little, then keep climbing, kind of like the car has to catch up with itself. same deal in 3rd to an extent. i really dont think the wheels are spinning. i mean sure its cold out but really?
im still hitting 15-17 psi, and when i get out of the car i'm not smelling clutch...
the belt seems tight, so idk is it another issue or am i just crazy? bout to go on lunch, maybe i'll take a quick vid to show yall.. and as always, thanks

ok just went out on lunch, performed a few pulls. disclaimer: i was low on gas (totally forgot, usually never run it hard on low fuel) and the CEL is for running rich. only in one of these pulls did the 'slip' seem to really happen

Im gonna say clutch man. You won't smell it unless its slipping a lot. The reason it's happening now and not before is because now you are making more powa now. Clutch can't hold anymore
just from your description, i can tell you it has something to do with your clutch.
i can almost guarantee you it is the clutch disk itself. due to the added power, the clutch can no longer hold it.
the hydraulics definitely arent the issue either since you have no troubles getting into gear.
it might be the pressure plate, but i'd think you would be getting some clutch chatter if that was the case. also you might get a strange noise when you push in the clutch pedal if that were the case.
get a new clutch. im about to tackle this job pretty soon.

Stock clutch gives up pretty quick once you add more power.
Mine was just fine until I actually started to drive on mine, and then it lasted about a 3 weeks before it started slipping.
Sean has done something like 4 clutch changes in Cobalts. Maybe he will give you a bundle discount for all the stuff you could have him do. haha.

He also charges way less than any shop will charge you.
It's a whole new clutch. It's an upgrade from the stock clutch.

Lol..... A lot of these clutches that go boom have dynoed lol a lot are lsj and a lot are lnf.I keep a good ramp for boost.not the issue.its the fact my stock balts are making 300+ whp and 360+ ft lbs... (Stock just tune) and 22lbs.. lol yes I have proof. Lol. Clutches are a friction item so if it can't hold what's put to it then I am sorry...

He can indeed. And he just *loves* it when you camp out in the garage with him asking stupid questions. If you want to be alive afterwards, not recommended...

He won't be hurt if you don't buy his clutch. I just gave him a heads up about interested in doing the clutch, so just ask him when you do the seat swap.
