Angry Clutch Slipping...WTF

Ok so I've been driving the car a little harder since the DP install. Earlier this afternoon when I switched to second, I noticed there was a delay...The RPMS fell and raised back up...weird. That never happened. I drove it later tonight, even worse...and had a friend confirm the clutch is slipping. I have 4,000 miles on the damn car! This is GAYe...

I'm around 17k with my stock clutch and run the hell out of it. I'm not sure why people have issues, but maybe some are worse than others. Mine is even holding up to 7.2k redline shifts with 260+ HP for 4k miles.

How many miles do you have on your new clutch? A buddy of mine works for a GM dealer and said he can get it replaced without any problems...it's still effin' stupid

I beleive if any "wear items" blow before a certain mileage (like 7000) its still under warranty as defective.

Look it up

Well it slips a bit on somedays and then on others it is fine, really my only problem is shifting form first to second, thats where is slips the most, but thats pretty common from what ive seen on this site. Just a crappy clutch for a performance car IMO they should have put more time into it.

25K and going with Stg2 from my cars inception and all on the stock clutch. Make sure it's not the tires spinning instead of the clutch slipping. Sometimes the tires will spin and you won't hear em.

I have also learned with this car, that you kind of have to re-learn how to drive using a clutch. Our cars have to be driven differently.

Yea it is, they were gonna charge me $1500 to replace it(they said that was discounted) but I said **** that. Hopefully you wont have to fight them like I did, It was christmas break to, I was on my way home from school whcich is a 370 mile drive, and 10 miles from my house the clutch just gave way on me. Then I had to fight them for 2 weeks so my christmas break pretty much blew.

Well, then save your pennies for Excedy. That's the only one out that I would trust other then a stock replacement. Sucks man, I'm glad the weather is cooling off. Better for the clutch for me. lol

I just turned over 40K on the stock clutch, and thats with work done for 90% of that. It even held fast shifts on the bottle for a few weeks. Now, its finally starting to loose its grip after one good run, but its still very drivable. There is nothing wrong with the factory clutch, you just have to know how to use it. Its kinda stupid that you have to do it, but if you drive it correctly it works great.

Yeah, they run about a G, then about another 6 hundo for install. It's about 8 hours for someone knowledgeable that hasn't done it before and can be done in about 6 hours.

I'm not sure of any other aftermarket clutches that are of good quality and with no issues. Wish ya luck man, and keep us posted.

Correct, our clutches have been made to be treated a bit rough. You're not really supposed to baby em. I'm not saying that you should drop the hammer everytime, but they are meant to be used ya know
