Cobalt SS gears
It always depends, doesn't it?
If you are drag racing, get the 4.45 gears. Faster acceleration, lower gas mileage, lower top speed.
The 3.53 gears? Slower acceleration, better gas mileage, possibly higher top speed.
Stock is 4.05, roughly right in between those two.
Is it worth it? Probably not. Can you buy, install and setup the gears yourself? If not it will cost probably $1000 or more to make the change. I would guess that just the labor would be $500+.
I have never heard of anyone changing the gears. Unless you really need to change for a specific purpose, it probably ain't worth it.
Just my 2 cents, your reality may differ.

Going to shorter gears on our cars is dumb. They're short enough. We would benefit from taller gears.
