over heating?

hey guys, I have had my Cobalt SS/SC since the end of June and I love it (brand new), but when I have to wait in line at a fast food place or when Im crossing the border waiting a while my coolant will rise all the way up to about 223-225 sometimes before the fan kicks on but it raises up to that temp pretty quickly... Im just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else out there has this happen to them? It just doesnt seem right, my RSX-s never fluctuated temps so often but who knows...

that kinda normal i had my fans adjusted thou with hp tuners to come one stronger and at a lower temp to stop that problem but next time you fo to a fast foood place just turn on your ac and your fans will actually turn on and your car will proably still se the 190's but should never hit that 223-225 like you were saying

I too have experienced this... I just turn my air on roll up the windows and to my surprise the temps fall fast to 185 and hold. I never took it in for service cuzz I knew after I explained about the temp going that high when idling that some tech would park my car in a stall, put exhaust hoses on and let the car idle for 2-4 hours which is a waste of time and my money!!

damn thats pretty high. I was racing and after it only got up to 185! You might want to check into that by the dealership.

man, i'm surprised EVERYONE doesn't know this by now. it's not overheating. these cars run hot. untill your dummy light comes on, you're running at a normal temperature.

its fine a asked the same qusstion like a week ago
the fan won't turn on until 223 on low speed and 225 on high
i even called the delership and they said the same thing.
Dont worry about it untill the warning light goes on and as long as the tem. light goes on in the insturment pannel when you start your car it is reading properly.
