are you kidding, do you see the list of replacement parts?

Work on Head:
Full Race Port and Polish
Hot-Air Flow Benched Intervals
Glass Bead
Knife Edged Intake Runners
Knife Edged Exhaust Runners
Port Matched Intake
Port Matched Exhaust
JBP 3 or 5 Angle Valve Job
Mill Head (optional)
Resurfaced Mating Surface
Final Computerize Flow Bench Sheet
All Assembly Included

Parts replaced:
Ferrea LSJ Special Alloy Valve Springs
Viton Valve seals
Ferrea Special Alloy Stainless Steel Valves
Ferrea Titanium Retainers
Ferrea Spring Seat Locators
JBP Titanium Locks
JBP Bronze Valve Guides
Cometic MLS Head Gasket

when you got all the possible bolt ons and tuning done
something like this is the only thing you can do to add power.
but you have to be adding some serious power if your going to go this far.

Exclamation Patriot Performance

http://patriot-performance.com has both a Stage 1 and Stage 2 head. Check the site; they are a lot more reasonable in cost than the JBP heads. Patriot Peformance is also in the states.

I'm with nightmare on this one, I looks like they just got a stock head, ported it and threw in some new stuff. 3000 bucks is really expencive for just getting a port job and some new hardware. Full racing custom cast, huge valves, insanely ported, and bullit proof hardware small block chevy heads are like 3000-3500!!! Those heads give like 50+% increases and are WELL worth the money!

Yeah, sorry I forgot that the Patriot Head weren't for the LSJ. V8's have two heads so of course they cost more. And I really don't think the price difference b/n the Patriot and the JBP is worth it.

Careful boys. The heads you are talking about are lost foam cast head for the L61 engine. The LSJ uses a sand cast head that is already better to start with. And I'm not entirely sure the two are interchangeable. I know that JBP says theirs is an LSJ head, but they picture an L61 head. (as we all know, the picture may not mean anything)

A set of nasty fully ported LS7 heads (http://www.etheads.com/mainpage.htm) are less than that. I'm talking about Gen 3 sbc heads that flow 374/229!!! They'll support well over 600hp naturally aspirated. $3000 for a single head is ridiculous, it doesn't even come with cams!

For comparison a billy badass Integra GSR head with bigger valves and similar work is $2200 from http://www.dh-racing.com/Head_Packages.html You do get a MLS (mutli layer steel) head gasket with the $3000 head, worth maybe $160 if it's a 1 off custom from Cometic. Not sure why it's over $600 more than a Vtec head which probably is a little more complex to work with. I guess if people will pay it though good for them!

JBP do heads but they do your head or a head off another 2.0 "if they have a core available"
As for the picture not being an LSJ head most online sites have pics that are not specific to what you are actually buying.
As for player_1 he was a tester for JBP cams. JBP does not sponser him.
As for the price of the head, yes it is expensive so either buy it or don't your choice.
As for choice there is not a lot yet but I find that most people who complain about the price are either to cheap or broke to actually buy those parts anyways.

I am hardly cheap...
I am hardly broke...

That is a extremely expensive head...albiet a very nice head.....

Hopefully more options become available, also, there are many good head builders/porters out there that can maybe do something with the LSJ head.

As this young market grows, I hope/expect to find items such as this at a more
competitive price.

The old adage applies, you must Pay if you want to play.......

The price reduces by about $95CDN.

Thanks,
JBP

You are also not "most people" either.
As for the pay to play saying, this is what I am doing as that head plus is what I am doing and if everyone else waits till something cheaper comes along I will enjoy my lone Cobalt

First off no I'm not sponcered by JBP, if I was I wouldn't have to fork over so much cash.
and yes your hear good things about JBP from me because I buy what I think I'm going to like. what I don't like I don't buy, and I'm not the type of person to run off my mouth about a product I don't own, have never seen, or used before. I try to stick to the facts.

now I know that JBP prices are expensive. this everyone knows, but if you live in Canada
when all is said and done JBP is cheaper then the rest in most cases.
unfortunatley for us all the manufacturers are down there in the US, so when we buy from there we end up paying extra for everything, taxes, duty, & shipping. so I'll agree with almost any amarican at this point and say yah you can get it cheaper, but thats not so true for us up here.

as for the head take a close look at the parts list and price it out, you'll quickly see why it's so expensive.
that being said, if the head is too expensive for you swap ferrea components for Bates, wou'll save $600USD or to the JBP components and you'll save $900USD
