Cobalt SS vs Neon SRT4? Perfromance and mod friendly

Hey guys, my buddy is looking into getting an SS Cobalt Supercharged and I just had a few questions for the ones who are more experienced with these Cobalts. He is debating between this and an SRT-4 Neon. Now my question is which is a more reliable car? Are the internals in the Cobalt Forged? How must boost can the stock motor handle reliabily? How much boost is the stock Eaton puting out? What is the average WHP on a bolt on SS? Does a company port the eatons, Steigmire? How reliable is a modded SS for daily driving? What is a good price for a low milage bolt on 2005 or so SS? Are there any recommended websites for these cars? I'm sort on time now and don't have time to seach so any info is appreciated. I own a 2004 Kenne Bell Cobra so I know all about the forced induction but not sure how mod friendly these motors are?

What are the usual basic bolt ons? Intake, exhaust, pulley, port and a tune? Who makes good tuning software for them?

Thanks guys

The cobalt is move liveable, the SRT-4 will have more horsepower. Remember, 0-60 and 1/4 mile isn't everything...

Really? I would think to get any type of power out of the SRT4 your would need to upgrade the turbo which probably isn't cheap and with the Cobalt you can just throw a pulley on along with intake and exhaust have the car tuned and be putting out good numbers with less $$$ invested. Not to mention the instant torque on the Cobalt should make the car funner to drive on the street.

Well to some of us it isn't, and to others it without a doubt is.

I like your car. Personally, I think that srt 4 is going to be better if you have money to mod it and its going to get more power, but I think the SS is going to give you better day to day driving and cheap mods can get you some good numbers. Realiability, i'm not to sure about though.

I don't see where you guys get this ****. It's a totally different body. A and J. Yes, it replaced the Cavalier. So what? So are Colorados and S-10s the same? No. Again, different body code. How about the Neon and the Caliber?? No, no, no.

Sorry, I just hate it when people say it's a Cavalier. IT'S NOT A CAVALIER

When I was modded (2.5 inch off road down pipe, 2.6 inch pulley, 60lb injectors, meth and tune) I put down 282whp and 260wtq. I was at an 11.4 afr and was running 23* of timing, 19 psi. I was able to beat an 01 cobra from a 60-120 roll by about 3 cars. Definitely quick but not that fast.

The cobalt sadly enough is a cavy. But the neon is still a neon. As for which car I'd choose well I have a 2005 cobalt ss that I just recently turned over to turbocharged if I hadent done that I would of gotten rid of it if I had left it supercharged cause it just wasn't enough for me but the handling is so much better in a cobalt so if he has the money and can wait till the new turbocharged one can come out and he can lease that or finance it I would do that otherwise I would take an srt-4 because its a 2.4 and its already turboed and the mods list for it is endless and I would have bought this car first if I could have gotten ahold of one at the time

I was also trying to choose between the ss and srt-4. Yes the srt-4 is faster but the cobalt can be fast with a low amount of money put into it. You can get a lot more power out of the neon but the cobalt has a better interior and handling. At the end of the day you just need to ask yourself if you want a better looking car with respectable power, or if you want to be the fastest cat on the block. Any way you put it if you want to be the fastest fwd is not the best platform for it. By the way your car is sick.

before you write up things you should think, and maybe do some research. They are two different cars. Different chassis, different body, different interior, new engines. So I'm not sure where the cavalier and cobalt are the same car? Like I said, your calling the Malibu a Lumina. Also funny thought, why didn't you join a cavalier forum?
