Timing chain or turbo? Where's the noise seem to derive from?

Time to break out the long screw driver and have a listen to your motor.

Place the flat blade on different places on the motor with the handle to your ear.

When you find the area with the problem you will hear it. It will help you track own the noise anyways..

I would start to think its the old timing chain tensioner.

Always a good place to start.

Yeah I don't know if those would have the same shitty timing chain tensioner if so thats where I would start. Pretty inexpensive party to replace.

Took it apart found that the balance chain tensioner was gutted the plunger was gone and the guide broken I couldn't find the replacement parts from saab so too a gamble and I ordered them for a cobalt ss and every thing was the same except the balance shaft gears (the ones on mw car was a little thicker) so I reused them other than that all timing componets where the same put it back together and fired it right up and now you can't even hear it run not even a vibration from the engine
