what should the highest temp i should be seeing in my cobalt? i just got it not too long ago, the fans kick on, and my temp is around 180 ish when driving but if i let me car sit running after driving temps rise up to 202 is the highest then i looked at it and turned it off and let it cool.

here in florida the highest i ever see is like 192* ... usually its around 180* while driving and 187* while idling.. check in hp tuners where u have the fans set up to kick on.. maybe the previous owner changed it or something. other than that make sure ur engine's coolant is at the right level and ur not leaking any (crack in radiator, etc). good luck.

its normal for it to rise up to over 200 degrees if the car is just sitting?

I've seen 210 when it's sitting. The fan don't come on till 210-215.

200F is about 93 Celcius... i average about 89-93.. you will see your temps around 200 when sitting... no air through the radiator... never tried to see when my fans kick on but it's not overheating... no biggie..

car sitting = no air flow. my car is tuned to use the fans a bit more i believe. i forgot what exactly was changed but it was something inside hpt

On stock tune my fans wouldnt kick on til 212.I now have them set to kick on at 190.or 195 I dont remember now lol

back to the OP thats pretty normal for cobalts.

You shouldn't start worrying until you start getting above 220*F on a hot day when sitting.

The Cobalt tends to run around 175-205 for most conditions.

must have been that day it was -59*C. Took a good 30mins of driving to warm up my Z.

most ive seen is 234* but that was cuz i was climbing up a hill and it was on the way to vegas...in 104* weather...lets just say i coasted all the way down the hill haha!

ya it was one of those days. i looked at my coolant and was like what the hell. and i had already let my car warm up for half hour lol

since i got tuned i dont see temps over 192 cruising in the summer 178-181 going down the jersey shore in 100+ temp ill see 183 tops...
