coolant liquid turning dark?
this may be dumb but i just bought my 05 ss/sc and it has another added coolant tank on the left side of the engine bay as well as the stock coolant tank on the right side. the added one on the left seem to look fine but the one on the right doesn't look pink at all anymore, its much darker and pretty grayish. could it just be a different kind of coolant or what? its bothering me

Well congrats on having a free option b! lol (extra coolant tank)
I'd say the right side (Stock engine coolant) is getting a little old and might need to be replaced.

WTF are you guys talking about????
Can we get a pic? the stock coolant tank is on the left side of the car......the supercharger coolant has its little tiny reservoir in the middle, and an option B tank goes on the right, where a 2.2 would have its air filter.
But anyway..... The coolant tanks turn brown/murky over time when the coolant is allowed to get low, a sludge builds up, you remove tank and wash it out but its damn near impossible to get it all out, if it really bothers you a new tank is the solution.
I would get your coolant flushed, its pretty much time if its never been changed before.
Using a non-orange, Dexcool compatible coolant will reduce the chance of the dark sludge in the future.

yeah, LOL. Youll need to make the mods to that part on top to make it work(its plastic so no biggie) But there shouldnt be an issue with that, like I said though I dont know if the internal shapes are exactly the same between early and late versions....if you use the late one you need to make sure the place you take it to can work with the late ones. If they are doing it by hand its not an issue.

ok back to my thread and what it was asking to start with....
heres some pics of the 2 coolant tanks. also, shouldn't there be a supercharger reservoir too? i dont see it in front of the sc.
im also missing the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. is that really harmful to other things?
and heres the missing heat shield

You dont have the stock coolant reservoir neck for the supercharger because youve got an "option B" coolant flow setup on the supercharger coolant. Youre missing the heatshield because it was taken off and never put back on when the car had the exhaust manifold reinstalled(car 99.9% used to have a header)
Your probably not gonna be able to clean that reservoir, its foul. Id get a coolant flush if I were you.
I would do as much maintenance as you can and make sure you continue to keep an eye out for stuff on this car......I told you before it had had a lot of fingers in it, and led potentially a hard life.

but yeah, im gonna keep up with maintenances as much as possible.
to go along with getting the coolant flushed, i want to replace the spark plugs and maybe sea foam the car right before my next oil change. is there anything else i can do to make sure everything is as clean as possible??

-flush the coolant
-swap in some 1 step colder plugs
-do a engine flush too
as for the black tank, hmmm...u could try removing it and cleaning it, gasoline should eat away at the black build up
also if the heat shield is such a bother i have a stock one, i also have 2 extra coolant tanks, my old used one, and a brand new one, which vulcan has right now as i sent it to them to have the aluminum version made

I have a confession to make, I pissed in your coolant tank...and I DONT KNOW what area did....
edit: drain it and flush the urine out, don't worry its not corrosive it wouldn't hurt anything.

I am saying that I urinated into your coolant tank and that you need to drain it out..... It was meant as a joke.... The first joke I make on the forums and the op doesn't catch it...sweet.
