If you wanna see something strange... watch the engine temp in traffic when you turn the A/C on. It cools down nicely.
I also believe that the Cobalts run way too hot. Though 160 is gonna be too cold for our cars. I'd like to try a 180 or 200 degree.

It does this because when the a/c is turned on, the radiator fans kick on, no matter what temp the coolant is at. This is why I run my a/c at the racetrack while I'm in the staging lines. The car is actually cooler this way when you're ready to run.

So the only way to fix this heat issue is to set up a switch in the car to turn the fans on when you want or run your A/C. Interesting....

That will get your temp down to ~180 or so...if you want cooler, you'll want to do that in conjunction with a lower thermostat. Lower stats do nothing by themselves, but with a fan over-ride to go with it (preferably one not involving the a/c), you'll get your cooler temps.

look for the fan relay under your fuse box. on most other cars you just ground one leg of this with a switch mounted in the cabin and this opens the relay "cleanly".

if you dont want to messing around with all this electrical stuff you could just by-pass the relay completely with a fan controller from summit or something.

or you could do what i do on my poor old overheating saturn and use the factory fan switch (turn ac on for 3 seconds)
