Angry Cooling Mod Meltdown!!!

Well... yesterday i got bored, so i went out and got a new tank, some tubing and the such for hattricks mod. I guess this is a ModBuild Thread.. Pictures will be coming here as soon as my Iphone stops restoring..

One MAJOR problem... the bleeder bolt broke, so i had to stop work (at 1030 at night)... and all i had to do was run the hoses!!!

Do you NEED coolant... or can you just use water? The red stuff looks pretty ... I was gonna throw in a bottle of watter wetter while i was at it.

I used some Epoxy and rubber cement for the fittings... nice and sturdy if you ask me....

Can someone also help me by explaining the best way to refill the system? I should use the new tank to fill, correct?

More EDITS to come!!!!

you can use water, prefereably distilled because it won't boil. the reason you use coolant is because it doesn't boil, and it doesn't freeze. water will be ok, but i would change it when you can just to be 100% safe. but as long as there's no engine problems or frequent overheating problems in your car water will be totally fine.

Distilled water will still boil. Cut it with antifreeze to keep the water from freezing. The reason you cut water with antifreeze is because the mixture alters the boiling and freeze points of water. It's able to sustain higher temps without boiling and lower temps without freezing than regular water. I wouldn't use anything but a 50/50 mix. You can add water wetter if you like, but I'm not so convinced that it makes a difference when I've used it in the past.

water doesnt boil until 212*...our radiators dont even get that hot, let alone HE lines...so assuming were not worried with it freezing, theres no downside to running pure water.

the radiator has nothing to do with the aftercooler system.

you can run water and be fine, just as long as the ambient temp doesn't drop below 35 degree's.

exactly. you'll be fine in the summer, but wouldn't do it in the winter.

It still gets low in the Winter from time to time. IF those lines freeze because all you have is water you'll be in for a nasty repair bill. Just word to the wise. Go ahead and use Dex cool and Water wetter.

yep. better safe than sorry. there's not going to be a huge difference either way temp wise, and all it takes is that one cold night. coolant is cheap, so may as well know 100% that there's nothing to worry about.

antifreeze help lubricate the pump and keeps seals from leaking or dry rotting... it also is a anti corrosive....... dont forget that guys... what you can do per instuctions on the bottle is run water and water wetter instead of antifreeze and water... but then you have no freezing protection... and from my experience i have not seen any outstanding results from the $10 bottle of water wetter... last time i checked water was already wet

Why would you want to JUST run water. Its not that hard to just go to autozone and buy a jug of coolant. its like $10 for a PREMIXED jug too. If your that lazy. I had to buy it for my shadow though cause the headgasket leaked.

No the coolant temp you see on the dash (The led thing near the bottom right of the gauges) will not tell you IAT2 temps which is what this mod is for. Instead it tells you what the Engine Coolant temp is of your radiator. Which is a competely seperate system from the intercooler.

Just remember this.

Intecooler equals Supercharger intake manifold temperatures.

Radiator equals Engine temperatures.

As stated they are two seperate systems.
To read IAT2 you will need a data recorder such as the VCM scanner portion of HP Tuners or an Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge (Remember the gauge I have )

Glad to see you got it together!
