Corsa Sport W/ Vibrant Header & Downpipe!!

ok guys, after doing lots of research about exhaust combos i ordered and installed the corsa sport exhaust on my balt the other day, wow does it rip!! awesome quality and appearance. i was a little disappointed though about the sound, i thought for the quality and money you pay for the system, corsa would have atleast focused more on controling the sound, especially while downshifting!! it really pops and farts pretty bad, and it also has a loud raspy sound at about 2800-3300 rpms. has anyone else experienced this with their system? does it mellow out or settle in the more your drive it?? i guess thats just the product of a free flowing 2.0l exhaust...right?? well the problem i have now is that i ordered the vibrant header and downpipe and now i am REALLY worried about the sound..will it be too loud for street use?? can i get a more milder resonator?? what should i do...i thought paying the money for a really good set-up would give me great results...i guess i should reconsider...????

yah when you start the car up for about the first 5 minutes it is raspy, the only thing i could think of is that its condensation rasping in the exhaust, when it evaporates it sounds fine and gets alot deeper when you get on it also dont worry about the sound, i plan on getting either a shorty with a downpipe or a long tube header. Either way im getting it without a cat so mine is gonna be pretty loud.

do you know if it's possibe to swap resonators from the sport to the touring?? that is the difference between them, right...the resonators not the mufflers..??

from what i understand the resonators are the same, the only real difference between all the corsa systems is the muffler and tip...at least thats what it shows on the install sheet.

The raspy sound is O2 leaking into the exhaust, the air enters and the hot gases ignite it, it can be fixed with muffler mend used as a gasket at all the joints. Or make your own gasket using copper gasket blanks, you can probably find them at Summit racing or some other retailer.

Like it was said above, the only difference between the touring and sport is the muffler. I have the sport and I like it so far. I'm getting the ZZP downpiepe and possibly the jbp header next

your kidding right? thats why I got the corsa sport exhaust, because the pops and gurgles sounds awesome. My exhaust is raspy when I drive it when its cold for the first couple mins. but after it warms up. its sounds amazing. I love it! I think it would just get louder and pop and gurlgle more with headers and downpipe. Thats what I plan on doing. But it will deff make it sound better, not worse. go for it!

I just put on my touring and am really disappointed with how loud it is and how nice and ricey it sounds. I'm actually scared to put in my headers now cause I think it'll get even worse.

get used to the sound. its a 2.0l 4 banger. it will never be an "american badass" sound.

u basically bought an import tuner and u have to accept that.
i love my sport, but i would worry about the sounder after a header and downpipe as well......

I had an SRT-4... and trust me it never sounded Ricer at all.. you need to find a set up you are comfortable with... or go to an exhaust shop and have them fabricate one for you.... next time ask around to people who have different exhausts and meet up with them or ask for a sound clip. Just my $0.02

Can I ask where you got the Vibrant header? I didn't think they were out yet. Also, do you know if they offer a long tube header?

one of my buddies has a Mini Cooper S 1.6l SC with a header, downpipe and 2.5" catback to a magnaflow muffler.... and it sounds NICE, not RICE... i think im gunna do that, but with a 3" just so i can ensure that when i mod more, i wont have to buy a new exhaust

yea i ordered the header from a local performance shop which is on back order, the same timeline that most people are waiting for...it should be here by the end of the month and i WILL provide soundclips for everyone with this combo. does anyone think or know if using the stock resonator with the Corsa sport back will make any difference??

performance and muffler shops are nice... but most of the big exhaust manufacturers spend a lot of time and money testing catback systems. i would trust a full kit rather than mixing and matching parts..... although im not completely against that.
