safely you can do a 3.0" pulley with one step colder plugs. stock internals are good to about 350hp most people say. i am not responsible for anything that breaks should he decide to mod his car.

Anything smaller than 3.0, your going to needa injectors, tune, and some plugs, Your going to get a varying answer on the stock internals though, you might want to search around.

most people agree that 300whp is the max and that is with a safe tune, cooling mods. etc. Me personally the lowest I would go without going into the engine would be a 2.8, 60's, intake, header back, and a good tune w/appropiate(sp?) guages.

I personally wont go under a 2.9 without engine/cooling work (cooling at least)
I would start off with an exhaust, ingalls torque damper, then maybe a stage kit w/a good tune (GM or custom!!! no canned tunes from 3rd parties!!!)
