Im helping a friend get his 04 ION running right and I need some help. We have two things wrong. First is a horrible and annoying whistle coming from around the boost bypass on the m62. Has anyone heard anything along these lines? Im thinking it could be bad or it could just be a small vac leak in that section somewhere.

Also he just bought a used IC pump off a member on a redline forum but it is not coming on. Either someone sold him a bad one or he is hooking something up wrong. It has been forever sense i had to deal with any of these problems so Im kinda lost in the dark here lol.

Thats what he said too. So i think he already has it wired backwards. Unless he needs to wire it backwards from the way it is wired now, lol.

When i try to turn the IC pump on and off with hptuners you can hear a click but the pump just does not turn on.

 

Sounds like its crappy owner problems.

04s are wired backwards. Multiple threads on this, search.

 

Even if he just wired it backwards the pump would still turn on, right? It would just pump the other direction.

 

Sounds like a bad pump, why didnt he just buy a new one from ZZP? they are like 95 bucks.

 

Because 40 dollars shipped on a used one sounds alot better then 95 plus shipping I guess.

 

try the ic pump fuse. i had two good working pumps and never thought my fuse could had been the problem lol

as for the leak. if its an annoying whistle ive also had experience with that, and it could be:

1. intake manifold gasket
2. sc gasket
3. dual pass not sealing properly if he installed ine
4. is not a vacum leak if all hoses are place in properly

 

maybe, but now he has to buy a brand new one + the cost of a shitty one. however, I'd check the fuse next

 

it will barely have any follow if its still wired backwards, need to figure out if the car is wired correct first look for a how to on it or ask one the redline forums.

 

He just put on a dual pass acouple of weeks ago, so that could be the issue for the noise. He was thinking it could be an injector seal. He sprayed brake cleaner around where the noise was coming from, once he sprayed it the noise stopped for a min.

Ill get him to check his fuse.

 

But it will turn on if wired backwards, and we are not even making it that far.
