For sound only, unless it completely replaces the part of our catback that is 2.25".

Which it states it's over the axle. That just happens to be where it kinks down to 2.25

I did a custom replacement on mine, 2.5 from just before the axle back, including the muffler and having everything welded up, it just cost alittle over 100 bucks...
