custom exhaust

i want to get my exhaust done cat back and was wondering how big i should get the piping. Is 3 inches to big? i want it to sound kind of throaty and deep, deffinately dont want it to sound like a rice burner. Any ideas?

Right now I have 2.25 in pipping on my Cobalt. I had a 2002 Z24 with 2.5 in pipping. I am very happy with the way my Cobalt sounds right now. I wouldn't go bigger then 2.5 in pipping.

if u r 270whp or under, go 2.5. If you are over 260whp then go 3". Also remember...3" is really loud...lol
