Eco I believe he has the small H/E so how he installed his would be completely different.

Also, i think everyone is agreeing that it would be better just to run the new H/E and the opt b due to the stock h/e getting heat soaked by way of the radiator...
i cut the crash bar about 2 inches by 2inches going in. a small little cut out on the drivers side(if your facing the front of the car. the opposite side has the fill cap and also drain off which will fit fine once the right side of the crash bar gets cut a little bit. i zip tied the bottle on the bracket to the cx h/e and the upper side zip ties plus 1bolt on each side of each bracket. so only 2 bolts is holding the top part of the bracket on each side.

i can't really take any more pic's or take off my bumper with my dad being sick i really don't have time. between everything that is going on in my life right now and work.

only thing i can tell you is if you have something to drill 1hole on each side of the crash bar and something to cut into the crash bar it is really simple. zip ties also are a main thing. i've had it on for now 4+months i guess. still completely fine and trust me i live in new jersey i hit huge bumps and pot holes.

no i did not take out the stock h/e due to the fact that if you read my write up you use both.

the cx h/e goes right next to the stock radiator. it sits right in front of it. no space in between them thats why i said use zip ties for the bottom half of the bracket that goes into the cx h/e and 2brackets you buy from home depot.

Ok I cant decide between the larger H/E or the smaller one. Bodnar your install looks really good and so does Hungry's. Hungry's was easier as far as i can tell though. But I like the look of the larger H/E because you dont see the raiator behind it. Does the larger one hang down far enough where it would scrape if my car is lowered? Thanks for the help...

no. the larger h/e the way i did it does not hang any lower than the front bumper. it is the same height of the radiator or a little bit higher

yeah you can position it where ever with the custom brackets that you have to make yourself i found that the one i purchased was as if it was a direct bolt in thats the difference... ease of install is what i liked....

Here you go...

1. I Ran the one side (Looking at the car the RIGHT SIDE of the stock h/e) coming out of the stock heat exchanger to the cx h/e. That went up under the front right headlight then down into the front of the right side of the cx h/e.
2. The other side (left side of the cx h/e) went left side and wrap to the right side then made a little circle so it would go back into the pump! (exactly where you took the line that was going out of the stock heat exchanger to the pump.

It cost me under $199. You can buy this Big CX H/E on ebay for $149. There website is WWW. CXRACING .COM
*I only used 2 screws, 2 lock washers, 2 nuts to mount the top part of the bracket (I drilled only 1 hole on each side to make them fit).
*The bottom side I wire tied together to the 2- 6 inch L brackets I bought from Home Depot which had pre drilled holes. Part number for the L Bracket I bought from Home Depot is in one of the pictures.
*12 feet of 3/4 heater hose. Little extra just in case.
*3-Metal Hose Clamps
*6-Metal wire ties or regular ones that I used
*1 Gallon of Dex Cool! Almost used the whole thing.
*1 foot of 1/4 hose for the drain off (blue hose on the left side)

Finished Product after being washed and cleaned...

I used the stock heat exchanger/inter cooler + the CX H/E. So I am running both the stock one plus the CX H/E (Dual Heat Exchangers). Extra coolant the better. Due to gas prices, being young, or not being able to pay for the more expensive ones. This one is very easy to install and for sure bigger than other company's like the one fast98 or his website sells (WWW. ottperformance .COM). Also Cobalt Addiction (WWW. Cobalt-Addiction .COM). Not to bash them it is just a pretty big price difference and I couldn't afford it as I talked to fast98 in pm's and he said the best he could sell his for was $280 to me at the time when it was over $300 after being shipped. He said he would be amazed if I could get the one on ebay which is the one I put on and put on for less than $200. It fits great when you mount it far back the way I did. I would recommend this to anyone as I would try to help you on how to mount it or exactly what I did. Also, to make sure it doesn't move anywhere. I have had it on the car mounted for over 4 months now and it is still perfectly secure!

If you have any questions please feel free to PM as I will do my best to try to help you with any questions you may have.

-Chris

Hopefully this will be added to the how to guide section for everyone else.

you realized i only cut into the crash bar 2 fingers wide and maybe 1inch long. that is a super close up.

also metal wire ties would make some more people happy. for me the regular ones will do just fine

haha, i guess i should say thanks?

also it is pretty sweet looking once done. all the pic's are of mounting it and putting it up as it is really hard to mount it. once that is done planing the lines is pretty easy.

1 serious question though, that roll race you did against the other cobalt, your car dosent break em loose from a 40 roll on the spray? or was it spinning but not squeeling? i have major traction problems in second on spray and im running 235/40/18 g forces...

i didn't have a bottle warmer at the time so i would say the bottle pressure was probably at 600 or something when it should be at 950-1,000.

i got one now but haven't installed it yet. so yeah basically that was a 45shot but not really and a weak ass shot. if i put the warmer on and do it again i don't even want to know how much faster i will pull on him and break the stock tires loose.

thanks for all the help!
I got the same H/E but removed my old H/E(stock) to make the 1"1/2 room needed 4 the new one, without having to cut into the crash bar. once there i just drilled 2 holes in the H/E and bolted it in the original holes for the condencer/radiator. no wire ties and its completely solid.

I wonder how much truth there is in Hungrys comments about losing pressure with 2 H/E?
