Everyone seems to never want to route the hot coolant through the IC Pump in their diagrams, however this is how GM tells you to do it when installing their Dual Pass. This is the routing I have with my setup using a ZZP Dual Pass End Plate (No Option B) and a CX Racing H/E. Please discuss...
thats how i have mine, just minus the stock h/e im only running the cx racing h/e...

Sounds good man, I'm glad somebody actually looked at my crazy MS Paint diagram, haha That is how my setup will be whenever I receive my CX Racing H/E in the mail today. I can't wait! Thanks for the awesome writeup!

I have a question for any of you guys that have a HE installed..?

I just finished installing my CX Racing H/E, same one as the OP's. I hooked up all the lines and took off the CXR HE bleeder. I filled the top fill cap with coolant/water until it overflowed on the HE and then put the bleeder back in. I then put more liquid into the funnel in the fill cap and started the car. A bit of the coolant was sucked down into the tube and I kept the liquid nice and full in the fill cap tube. The water bubbled a little bit. I left the engine run like this for a few minutes. When I saw no more bubbling or activity I took out the funnel and capped off the fill tube...

I left the car sit and idle in my driveway for about 15 minutes while I cleaned my garage up. I checked the fill tube again and it had a healthy amount of liquid. I got in the car to take it for a test ride and noticed the engine temp was 214 degrees F. This is the hottest I have ever seen it. The highest I ever saw before was about 204. The ambient temp was 85 F. I started driving the car and the temp cooled down to about 185F which is normal for my car. It cooled down within about 3 minutes...

My question? Is this normal? Do you think there was still some air trapped in the system? I DO NOT have option B. I know to check the fill tube and refill as needed till all air is purged. Is there any way I can make sure that the flow is working good? I don't have an Interceptor or HP Tuners so I can't monitor IAT 1 & 2. The fluid "moves" inside the bottom of the fill tube so I believe it to be pumping. Anyone have any ideas / comments / suggestions? Am I just being paranoid? Thanks!

15 min is a long time to be idling.
this heat exchanger has nothing to do with your engine coolant. completely separate cooling system. your car is just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that the systems are totally separate but I figured that increased IAT's would heat up the engine substancially. I will drive it for a couple days and see how it goes...

I am sure it will be fine mate. The iat1 and iat2s are whats important with the heat exchanger. More so the iat2's then anything. I really recommend that you get an interceptor or hptuners so you can log some of your data. Thats part of the fun, doing a few hard pulls with no mods and seeing sky high numbers and watching them drop as you do mods. =D lets you know your doing things right.
