Cool Cylinder SIX Misfire???

Ok,
I'm running Autolite 3922 Sparkplugs.
When I set my interceptor gauge to moniter misfires, I noticed while sitting idle, most all my misfires on #2 cylinder. I pull the plug out, it looks fine, except it's gapped to 0.030" I'm like WTF? I dont have the tool to regap it, and I don't want to risk brakeing it so I figure, well it was running. I check #1 cylinder plug, same thing, I then check #3 cylinder plug, it's gapped to 0.034". I swap Cylinder #2 plug with the plug in #3 Cylinder. I start it up, and I still get misfires on #2 cylinder. Ok so next I need to swap my coil packs. But.... When I rev the engine, my interceptor tells me I have misfires on cylinders 5, 6, 7, and 8, in addition to misfires on 1, 2, 3, and 4. Aperently there is a data error somewhere. Anyone ever have that happen? Anyways, Im fixing ot head to Ricerzone (my company gets discounts there) to get a plug gapper so that I can set the gap to 0.040" as reccomened by my tuner. Might even pick up a new set of NGK BRK-7E plugs while I'm there. Then I'll head out to Ozark and see about getting some bolts that are missing off my car. haha ops.

Find a new 'tuner'. If you are having misfires, the LAST thing you want to do is make the gap bigger. And, how do you know the measurements of the gap, but don't have a gapping tool? Do you have built in calipers in your brain that can just estimate the gap?

ya, I have a keyring thing that measures the gap. And come to think if it, your right, it does have a built in adjuster *DOH* But I dont want to be chaseing ghosts though. My main question is, why or how am I getting misfires on cylinders that don't exist?
BTW: I only get P0300 about once a month, maybe less often then that.

That would be something to take up with interceptor. And, to be honest, I think your gauges are tweaking out, so I really don't think you are getting misfires in any cylinders. I think it may be interference in the plug wires, tbh. I would gap them to .032" and go from there. I wouldn't go any higher than .035", unless you are stock (which you are not). I think the stock gap is .040", and if you aren't stock you would probably induce spark blow out, which WOULD cause the misfires.

Think about it like this; the interceptor is set up to read signals 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 and 08. The car sends 01-04 as cylinder misfires, and uses 05-08 for something else. That's why it reads them as misfires, and is normal. It's just reading extra data that isn't important.

The reason your getting misfire isnt the plugs...it is the injectors your running. the pintle in the injector will begine to "bounce" at idle over time if the ms isnt set just right

Thanks for the info guys, 1 book I have says gap it to 0.045" another says 0.042" Intense said for their tune to use 0.040" I Guess the guy who installed them and did the dynoing for my tune forgot to regap them. But I'm not having any issues with it so im gona leave it for now.
