and i know 160 is "VERY" fast but it yet again was in a place where noone is
soo if you had open stretch of highway and had your cobalt and NOONE was around your telling me you wouldnt drive relativly fast

bad guy...no...just stupid. Ive been up to 130-140 mph in cars that have suspension set-ups capable of those speeds and they arent the most stable so im sure a stock cobalt doing 160 is just a fokin deathwish.

There is no way you did 160!
Stock tires are P215/45R18. You are on P205/55R16. These tires have a smaller overall diameter (24.87" vs. 25.61). This means that when you are actually doing 60 MPH, your speedo reads 61.7 MPH (2.979 % difference). This gets amplified at higher speeds!
So, if your speedo read 160 MPH, you actually were going only about 150-155 MPH.
Stock tires are P215/45R18. You are on P205/55R16. These tires have a smaller overall diameter (24.87" vs. 25.61). This means that when you are actually doing 60 MPH, your speedo reads 61.7 MPH (2.979 % difference). This gets amplified at higher speeds!

I am not hating but how the hell does this work... here is a vid of a 2004(ls1) GTO doing a top speed run. It has a ported TB and muffler and takes ridiculously long to reach 160 where it absolutely just wont go any faster. Is the fearing on 04 GTO's bad top end.

i know the sc/ss pulls all the way to 240 km (150mph). i did it by myself with stock rims/tires on a open 4 lane freeway no traffic at 4 am. but it is slow climb to 155mph where i backed off because the car gets floating after 230 kph and at 155 the lil 2.0 is screaming and the car feels like its ready to take off like a plane. i was all by my self on a empty highway if i fucked up it was just me paying the price for seeing how fast my car went. i believe darksun topped out , i just didnt have the nerve to push my car that hard because when i tried it my car was only 5 weeks old.
