dealers conclusion

so i just got my ss/sc back from the dealer i had an earlier post about how my car was extremly slow and would act as if the rev limiter was set at 5000 rpm and it would rev down really slowly..car only has intake and only has 3500 miles.....so they told me i need a new cat..does this sound like something that would cause the car to do this...i also get a squeling sound the engine think around the pulley area around 4k rpm ...im just not sure if thats the problem and scared to take the car cus i got to pay 94 bucks everytime they look at it and if its not the cat when i come back they will charge again...technically cant i take my exhaust off and see if it still does the same thing or would that make it run like **** anyways....im getting aftermarket stuff anyways..but i want to test to see if its really the cat...
