Defroster question............

Ummmmm, now that the weather is colder does anyone know if using the defroster is like having your a/c on? As far as power draw on the engine goes is it like running the A/C????

No, the A/C robs power since the A/C compressor puts a load on the engine. The defroster uses engine coolant to heat the air, in the heater box under your dash. It'll use electrical power, but not rob crank horsepower.

The A/C compressor IS engaged with the defroster on. It supplies dry air to the windshield to remove humidity.

All u have to do is make sure none of the 3 buttons have the light on above them, the snow flake turns the a/c on and off, if it's off and you just turn the fans on ( 0 1 2 3 4) it'll and change the knob into the red, it'll bring in hot air from the engine, i've noticed even when racing and cruising, even in stop and go traffic, the car doesnt run as hot, at a stand still i dont break 190 after sitting at long intersections and when moving it doesnt break 181.
