Difference Between 2.9 and 2.8?

Hey guys, i currently hav a 2.9 pulley on my car with 60 lb'ers and no cooling mods.

what would be the difference with putting on a 2.8?

or for that matter- the 2.7 (would i also need cooling mods for the 2.7?)?

thanks fellas

ALSO...

would the rock-in-the-blower noise get louder with an even smaller pulley?

thanks again!

depends on how you drive, and what temperature it is outside

do you see IAT2s above 140 often?

a cobra H/E would be a nice cheap helpful mod for you though.

Its always helpful to have cooling mods, I had them when I was on stock pulley.

Cooling mod's are like condoms for you car, they help keep it safe but there is always something that can happen.

.1" between the 2.8 and 2.9 lol. Seriously though you are looking at roughly 5~7 hp and 8~10 tq at the wheels

I wouldnt push it over 130, that is just me. If im in a spirited driving mood I will shut down immediately before something happens. I dont remember correctly but you can create a failsafe with HPT using IAT2's? I could be wrong but I havent seen anything

your interceptors will probably read your IAT2 in farenheit anyway.
is there a way to change it to cels? i always left it that way anyway cuz HPT works in F mostly.

if my car is hitting 140 at the end of a run, I park it. after that it starts pulling timing.
in fact, i will even park it at 120-130 sometimes, you just dont make as much power when your dumping hot air in the engine.

hmmm...too poor for any cooling mods as is ...unfortunately, i just paid for my lc-1 to come in (still gotta pay to have the bung welded for the sensor) ...unfortunately as of now, i dont have the extra cash it would take to purchase and install a H/E ...but i do however was a faster ride! lol

going down to a 2.8 would have a minimum of 5 hp and 8 tq increase? thats pretty good to me!

any extra tuning involved over my already upgraded-for-2.8-tune?

nope...mine came in celcius right out of the box!

you could refine the tune and make it a little better for so more power, its not a must do thing at the moment though

depends on how aggressive you are with the tune

Oh, i forgot....will the smaller pulley make that noise coming out of the supercharger louder?

I'm talking about the rock tumbling noise, of course many of you already know it

also, will the supercharger whine be louder, or just higher pitched?

i sometimes worry about that rock-tumbler noise...it may be my paranoia, but sometimes it seems so loud....but my boost gauge stays at the same -17-ish at idle

mine tends to make weirder noises with a smaller pully on.

the blower whine is higher pitched and a little louder.

I'll have to get back with you I went from an aggressive 2.85" tune to a shitty weather winter tune with the 2.80"

so, with an even smalelr pulley, the rock-tumbler noise will get worse...thats unfortunate...
